So , what kind of shooter are you?

Another backyard shooter here. I wear whatever I happen to have on when the mood to shoot strikes me. Most of my shooting is at paper or cardboard from 3-15 yards or steel from 10-25 yards. I figure that if I can draw and consistently hit a 6" steel target from 10-12 yards with my carry guns I'm doing OK.

We do have some long range service rifle matches around here that are tempting, but I'm still deciding whether I want to dedicate the time and $$ to get into it.

As to firearms choices, I'm a revolver guy all the way--the only exception being my Ruger Mark II Target.

Almost completely handguns. My favorites are wheelguns. Topping the list are S&W 29's and 629's. I do shoot a lot of single action .45 Colt in Rugers and my Colt SAA. After years of shooting PPC my .38 days are rare. When I do go that route, it's with a Model 19 or 586/686.
Semi auto's are my next love with the 1911 at the top of the heap. Beretta follows that with Sig taking up the third spot.
I only own lever action rifles now and a couple of shotguns. Side-by side 12 gauge gets the shooting duties the most. Sounds like a little Cowboy action huh?
Outdoors range at the closest WMA during pretty weather. I shoot weekly so when it's raining I have a couple of indoor ranges within a 45 minute drive.

I dress the same for most every thing. I'm not here for the show.
I shoot wheel guns 627 in 38 super -- 686 in 38 super -- 617 22 rim- fire -- and a 940 in 9MM -- I P D A - Steel Workers ( all steel match ) Steel Challenge -- I S P S A -- B U G A back up Gun match will shoot app. 200 to 400 round a weekend. I love to shoot-- to old to win can not run fast.

I like firearms - have a tendency to practice more with handguns as I carry one most of the time. Rifles and shotguns in the past have been mostly work related but really enjoy them as well.

I really enjoy rimfires more than I did in the past, but have always had a soft spot for my Ruger Mark II bull barrel.

Have acquired a Model 17 and a Model 48-4, along with a 422 and Ruger Single Six.

But bottom line, if it goes bang, I like it.

I have lots and shoot lots. I've been competin against my self every time I go to the range since the age of 12.

Rule 303

Years ago, I owned a lot of revolvers and a few long guns...then I got rid of them all, and for many years, I only had one revolver. Then, a couple of years ago, I got interested in handguns again, and as of now I have lost count of how many I have bought, sold, and/or traded...I'm not exaggerating when I estimate maybe 80. At this time, I only have 6 pistols and no revolvers...four 1911s, a Glock 19, and a Ruger LC9. I think I am content with what I have.

When I ride my motorcycle, it is in jeans, boots, T-shirt, gloves, and leather vest. If it is cold, I add a leather jacket. A helmet always.

As a shooter, I would say "infrequent." I used to have access to some land where I could shoot freely (and for free) sort of like the setup Hickok45 has, but without the fancy steel targets. We moved and it is no longer convenient...plus my friend who owned the land just sold it. I don't enjoy going to a range, standing in a lane, and firing at a target along side a lot of other yahoos. So, now it is just for testing and proficiency, more than real enjoyment. Man, I miss "plinking" and general shooting!

I'm pretty much a jeans/T-Shirt/sweat shirt/cheap sneeker type guy.

For guns I like handguns mostly I suppose. Like most here I really like D/A revolvers from the 70's on back. I don't have anything against more modern ones, locks, MIM parts and such don't bother me, I just like the older ones better. I think it's the hunt as much as the gun really. Smith & Wesson, and Colt mostly, 357/38. My 22's are mostly Ruger.

When I go to the range I just go shooting. I don't "train" for anything. I load six...shoot six...load six...and so on. Ten, twelve yards is about my average range I guess. Anything from IDPA targets to old paper coffee cups.

Mostly I shoot for hunting situations and target. But I do combat courses they offer in my area with my M&P 40 and im really enjoying it more.

Lets see,

I prefer to shoot handguns, and out of those revolvers. I compete in blackpowder matches, and all of those are traditional.

Recreational shooter. The Chattanooga Rifle Club is just across the street, so I'll usually visit 3 or 4 days a week, sometimes twice during the day. Lots of friends and acquaintances at the Club... sometimes we shoot more bull than bullets.

I like shooting most all guns, but at least 50% of the time I'm shooting 22lr, and I really like shooting suppressed. I prefer shooting soda cans more than paper.

Blue jeans & T-shirt for riding the bike (I'm a fair-weather rider) and at the range. Boots and gloves for the bike, tennis shoes for the range.

I'm the Sunday morning RSO at our pistol club and am mostly a handgun shooter. Probably 75 / 25 in favor of semi-automatics. I do love older S&W blued revolvers, have a small colection of them and shoot them occasionally. I do not own any polymar framed handguns of any type, and probably never will. I generally shoot .45ACP or .40S&W and occasionally 9mm. Several of my semi's have .22 conversion units, which are nice money savers. Also have a few .22 rifles I enjoy taking to the range once in a while.

My dress at the range is casual but not to casual. No tactical gear to speak of. I enjoy shooting 5 rounds and have a look at what I hope I hit. I have tried a few defensive drills but this is limited by our clubs range rules. I generally go through 100 centerfire rounds per range visit. I can only afford this because I reload all the centerfire I shoot.

My ride is a 2006 H-D Softail Deluxe. Low key comfortable / defensive dress. Ride with 5-6 like minded friends on Tuesday evenings for a supper run up to 120 miles round trip. Most of the riding is county and local back roads. We're generally home by 9:30.

I dress what I think is a safe casual. PPE, long sleeves, pants, hiking footwear style boots, and a hat if I’m in the sun. I don’t waste ammo. I’m more serious about trying to hit the target than spray in its general direction. I even see just how accurate I can be with a knock off AK (Rom. SAR-1) as I can get at a hundred yards and farther. I have never been good at holding still and timing my trigger pull. I can’t stand up and fire a rifle very well still. Like anything else I would be better if I practiced more but that costs. So next up is learning to reload for rifle so I don’t have the cost excuse holding me back… I used to be all about blued steel. Now that I’m tired of fighting rust issues, I have noticed the stainless collection has grown and is still growing while I’m thinking of selling off some of the blued steel and walnut. But I’m holding onto at least one of my 29’s until I find a 629 that doesn’t have that dang new rifling that keeps causing leading with my cast bullets. I’m either going to figure that out or die someday of old age still trying.

I'm a CSM GSM Master Instructor and have really gotten into Vintage Military Rifle shooting. My shooting style is base on the CMP games, a bit of rapid fire from prone & sitting positions, slow fire both prone and off hand.

I shoot in what ever clothing I'm wearing at the time.

I also do a lot of action pistol type shooting, there is a near by club that has a match every other week. I shoot mostly in my back yard but like the comrodity of other shooters at such matches.

I like High Power but there isn't many matches with in resonable distances.

I like the older steel guns, Blued Rifles with Wook Stocks. I like the older K & N Frames, I could never rap myself around the looks of the full underlug L frames.

Revolvers, followed by rifles not too much into shotguns. I am not competitive. A lot of guns have passed through my hands. I dont like to be around other people when I shoot. I dress comfortable, shoot by myself, test out a new gun slowly, sight them in and just carry them along in the boonies after that.
Many years ago I liked to shoot black powder, just dont do it anymore. When I was working I had to requalify regularly. I always was the first one done on every phase. On top of that, I usualy didnt start shooting untill after the guys around me opened up. Last to start on command, 1st to finish.
I own a good collapsable table, heavy target stand and everything else I need. We have a nice free range out of town and being retired I can pick my time to go out there when it`s empty or close to it. Only a couple times in my life have I paid to shoot. (Except for haveing to do my requalifys).
I dont now so much, but I used to experiment with my reloads. When I started out as a boy my dad shot with me a lot. He was good with any type gun, there was a local village dump at a old quarry and dad would throw cans and bottels for me. Yes, glass bottels. Of course the pieces landed in the other trash that was dozzed and covered.
