My second gun...Winchester 9422
standard.jpg

A couple Marlin 39As...24" rifle and it's 20" Mountie cousin
standard.jpg

A replacement for my first gun (which was traded in on the above 9422 in 1975), a Winchester Model 250
standard.jpg

My most recent lever action...a Marlin Model 56-Levermatic (I'm picking up a new-to-me Marlin M-57 Levermatic tomorrow...it's a 22Lr but has a tube type magazine vs. the pictured M-56 with it's box type magazine)

This Browning BL22 Deluxe was the first gun that I purchased using my first real paycheck back in 1979. No telling how many squirrels and rabbits this one has put in the frying pan in the past 30 years.

I do. My 39M Marlin carbine has been in the fleet since 1974.

My last lever 22 was an original Marlin 1895 built 1898 that had been restored by a pro. Had it for years, finally got talked out of it.

I've got a Henry .22LR Carbine with the large loop lever. A really neat, inexpensive 100% AMERICAN MADE AND MANUFACTURED rifle. Pretty accurate for what it is, and the quality is really good. I prefer ALL rifles with a lever personally.

I have a Marlin 1894FG .41 Magnum and a 1895 Guide Gun in .45-70.
I need a Marlin 39 to round out the set.

Most of my .22 rifles are bolts or semiautos but a Marlin 39 sure talks to me.

Faulkner,
Nice Browning...I've come close several times on one of those! If I remember correctly, it has a short-throw lever, somewhat like the Levermatic.

Sip,
I just picked up my first pump rimfire...a Model 61...it's so new-to-me I have only run a very few rounds down the barrel. It's calling me. It's nice but a shooter!

cp1969,
The first gun I ever shot was my dad's 39A. I always expected I'd own it someday. Well, a couple years ago, I called him and asked if I could borrow it to shoot. He told me he had traded it off! Ugh!! So I kinda got the bug to find a like 39A and sure enough a Mountie got caught up in the mix! Great shooters. My Mountie came with a peep (loose)...I installed it and love it!

m657,
I hear guys brag on those old model Marlins all the time...never had the chance to find one priced where I could jump at it. I am sure you miss it.

jframe,
I have heard many, many good things about the Henry rimfire rifles and carbines. I have a few 30-30s that have levers... M94, M336 and a minty fresh Western Field 740A - EMN. Levers are good.

ACP230,
Be careful...you may just own it!!

Dick,
Both of your guns are great fun to shoot. My friend brings his Henry and I break out my 39A...we work hard to wear out the plates and gongs out back.

Until I picked up and shot my Marlin M-56, my 9422 was the most accurate of the herd...the 56 is now the top dog as far as accuracy goes. I'm in the process of scoping it.

My first gun was a Marlin Model 57 which I received at age 14 as a Christmas present. Death to squirrels and groundhogs and almost as fast as an autoloader.

My parents bought me a Winchester 9422 back in 1973 when I graduated High School and its been my favorite rimfire rifle ever since!~

hangtree,
There is something about those Marlins with the great walnut and wide forearms.

586L-frame,
Very fine older Marlin!! Very nice and beautiful condition too!!!

Smith357,
No doubt a great rifle! Unusual "lever".

tbury,
I have no doubt that in your neck of the woods..squirrels cowered! Check out this group out of my M56...

epj,
Man, all these 1950's 39As!! Great guns.

Misty,
That's the Deluxe Model!! My dad has one with the beautiful wood, just a regular .22 LR.

Mule88,
You got one when they were 1st introduced!

Bob

Odd ball

Hi Vonfatman,
Here is one kinda like yours and has wood on par with Gunlovingirl's
9538895b.jpg

It was threaded and rebarreled with a Anschutz, match Chambered, Rurger/Green Mountain .920 barrel.
Shoots great but could still use a trigger job.
Nice pictures everyone.
Thanks
Mike

I love my 39a Mountie, I don't think any 22 is cooler looking...but to be honest, I enjoy shooting pump 22s the best...:)

No argument there, I've got a mess of Winchester 1890's, 61's and 62's, great little rifles that are loads of fun. I shouldn't be biased, though, I generally just love .22's.

I have an Iver Johnson lever action .22 s/l/lr, which looks just like a Henry. And a Winchester 9422 magnum Trapper with a laminated stock. I won't part with either one of them.

smith 357- those dakotas are the neatest little rifles. used to sell them.

I like my rimfires and my centerfires with a lever.

L to R, Winchester 94 Trapper in .45 Colt; Winchester 9422 Magnum Trapper; Marline Golden 39A from the early sixties; Marlin Golden 39A Mountie from early sixties with a hard chrome finish; Savage 99A in 250-3000 from the early seventies.

Hey....it's got a lever:
Picture030.jpg

Also, it shoots much better than this with somebody that can actually see both sights at the same time; gotta get me one of them Marbel's aperture-jobbers one of these days. -S2

Back when those first came out-a buddy won one in a raffle. I swapped him my Marlin M99.22 semi auto and $50. Loved that gun-scoped it with a Leoupold 2x7 and it was my squirrel gun. Have no idea how it got away other than I traded/sold it for something. One of the dumber things I have done in a lonnnnnng carreer of gun trading

I have a few, among them are these two:

A very rare Remington Nylon 76 "Trail Rider." Only 1615 were factory plated; this one in May, 1963.

A nice example of the regrettably discontinued Winchester 9422. This Traditional XTR variation in .22 LR was made in 1980.

Man...those are some nice lever guns!! Some not so common guns too!!

Bob

A plinking session is not complete until I run through a box or more through a Model 96. A joy to shoot, especially after getting all bruised up from a box of 30-30 through my Winchester 94.

I love them. Here's a 39 from 1949 that I refinished. First one I ever tried. Far from perfect but I like it. :)
