So why is it that my 14-3 is my favorite?

I've always smiled when shooting this 6" revolver, accurate, best trigger out of all ms SW's even my performance center revolvers...a gem it is. It's been sitting in the safe for a few years, today I was cleaning a few and my eye glanced at the 14-3....had to smile, long time sitting in darkness. Well took it out back to my favorite shooting spot, loaded it up with some 158 gr food (it like them) and the band light up....gezzz what a great gun, a quarter inch circle filled from that chamber....I'll never part with that one. cleanled it up put it back in the safe...on the top row, it deserves it.

I agree, the k-38 (model 14), is a top shelf revolver, it deserves to be shot. I went to school in Europe, the k-38 was what I dreamed about shooting immediately upon my return. I will never be without at least one.

The classic. I have one, a 1948 model. Never adjusted the sights, as it shot to POA with both 148gr HBWC's and 158gr SWC's. I just move the front sight up and down from center hold to combat hold.

I, too, love my Model 14's. I'll readily admit that a lot of that love is due to my love for the old TV show Adam-12 and their use of the Model 14 in the first seasons.

Mine, from left to right: K-38, 14-2, 14-2 with 3 T's, 14-3 SAO

Here’s a couple of Model 14-4’s with 8 3/8” barrels and a Model 14-3 with 6” barrel. I agree with you on shooting these Model 14’s and it just seems like things slow down a little for me when shooting one of these at the range, back to a slower time. I love it because seems like when I’m shooting my semi-autos things seem to move a lot quicker than when I’m just loading 6 bullets at a time.
Note- The two long barrels are two different guns.

This will seem a bit contrarian, especially since I seriously love my 1948 vintage K38, but my specific Model 14-3 was a disappointment. It has a heavier, more scratchy trigger pull than I expected. It was the donor gun for my repro Model 16-3 and as soon as I get a round tuit I plan to Change out the H&T for smoother, Target versions. I must admit I’m the only one I’ve heard of having this experience.

We humanoids are all wired differently and things that click for one person...just do.

For some reason, a 4" heavy barrel Target sighted K frame has always shot better for me than any other length. No explanation possible, it just does.

I think the K38’s and K22’s (unfortunately don’t have a K32) and their corresponding M14 and M17’s represent the sweet spot in Smiths design and production. You just can’t get better than these.

I remember going with my dad to the gun stores when I was very young in the 50’s annd 60’s and admiring the beauty of these fine revolvers. There was just something about them that caught me eye. I’ll include in that the model 15 too. The 15 is just a junior version of its cousin the M14 / K38.

I took me 60 years to finally get my first and now I have two I really enjoy.
