Before someone says this isn't the right place to post, this is the forum a frequent most and it does have M&P15 aspect to it.

So I go to one of my local Army/Navy store, which also sells guns and accessories, to look for a riser for my new UTG Bug Buster scope I got for my Sport (there is the part that qualifies :p). I called on the phone and they said they had 1 and that they would hold it till I got there. So 30 min drive, I get there and wouldn't you know it, it's not for a picatinny rail .

Then I look up on the wall at the shotguns, which I have been looking at getting one, and there "IT" is!!! The exact Mossberg 500 that I have wanted. I look at it and the price is great ($369.00). I ask how many they have and if they get them in easily, because I really won't have the money til the week after the 4th (OT and paid holiday that week). He says he has 2 and that it is a special edition so not sure if he would get more.

So what to do? I have the money in savings but that is all I have. He did agree to hold it for the 3 weeks until I get the money but man it looks nice and I don't want to leave it. So I decide what the heck, get it now and just put the money back in savings in 3 weeks. Saves me a drive and what's the difference.

So.......that's what happens when you go looking for a $20 riser and walk out with a $400 shotgun (after taxes):D

I will post pic tomorrow

EPIC!

:D

Do not feel in any way that you are a deviant firearms enthusiast. I've walked in to a fun shop for item X and ended up buying firearm X. It just happens.

We all or at least a lot of us have the same problem....I hope you really like the shotgun....I know I would :D

Aww heck no!
I'm not answering this, next thing I know the'll be a Mrs. darksideemt showing up at my door with a frying pan and an attitude cause "I" told you to buy it...

You know you're going to get it, just go pay the man.:D

I went to a gun show looking for some 223 brass and left with a Henry Golden Boy. I just had to have it.

As soon as you reach the point of..."I could probably swing it if", you know it's too late.
Been there, done that multiple times. I felt guilty for a minute or two, it generally passes quickly.
Nice choice, BTW.

You did the right thing. Sure as heck, when you finally had the money as loose change you would either not find that exact model, would end up paying more for it, or would end up spending a lot more time looking for it. If it is a purchase you have been planning any way, when you see one available - GET IT ! That is how I ended up with my Sport. They had been hard to find and I went in one day to see if any came on their previous day shipment. They said no, but then one clerk said there might be one in back that came off layaway hold yesterday. Sure enough; and I knew if I hesitated one second, it would go to somebody else, so I took it. Best thing I have done in a long time. ENJOY the Mossberg.

SW Gun Guy and me are like TWINS..:)

Got my Buddies Bushmaster C15 at a great deal... cuz NO Sports where in town.... after looking for a week

2 days later went into Cabela's too, of course, get some .223 rds to shoot.... Saw a guy looking at an AR, was pretty quiet, asked if they HAD a M&P Sport..."i think we do have 1 in the back"

30 minutes later...... i had one...... DONT REGRET it at all

if Its THERE.... GET IT.... it wont be when you THINK you can make it back

GREAT CALL darksideemt:D

You guys aren't helping my inner battle to keep from getting a Sport!

I haven't had a place to shoot for sometime, and I don't know when I will again, but I am sure thinking about getting one of the $599 M&P Sports.

There are some places in SW Oklahoma....I used to live in Anadarko and there were all sorts of places to go shooting out in the Country, plus I thought there were ranges in Lawton, Fort Sill and Wichita Falls. Or you can drive the 4 to 5 hours up here and go shooting with me....come straight up 283 cant miss the little hole in the wall...

The fact that your on this site leads me to believe that the battle is over and your now just clearing out some pockets of resistence.
As for places to shoot- if you buy it they will come.

I had the money in my wallet for the M&P 9. just deciding on thumb safety or not. I already have a S&W 908 so I ended up with the Sport. I knew I would get one eventually. But they were hard to find and the LGS had one in stock.
