If you want to carry the gun broken down...

For my 15-22, and a soft case, I went with the Drago Gear 36" Dual Gun Case at Academy. Plenty of storage compartments and MOLLE panels for only $69.99. Very well made and strong construction. Extremely durable.
Academy - Drago Gear 36" Double Gun Case
Holds the weapon secure with straps and sleeves. 3 side panel compartments, one large zippered compartment with two internal zippered compartments, with a split largest compartment to house two rifles if needed. Also has shoulder straps on the back for carrying or handles.
For my AR, I went with the Pelican 1720... hefty price tag, but well worth it. Though you can't beat Plano's "Gun Guard" case for $69.99. No where near as strong as the Pelican, but a good case.
