Almost new (Sept. 22) Performance Center S&W 460 XVR INCLUDES THREE PREMIUM HOLSTER AND NIL WALNUT GRIPS! Only $1,625 for everything. The three holsters and the grips worth >$875.
Our company has business on Admiralty Island, Alaska, and this was to be my bear protection rig for one of the highest brown bear concentrations in the world (1,400-1,600 on one million acres). And for use as bear protection in general in Alaska, but the weapon is useful for much more. I'll never get to use it for that because I am headed to Huntsville Alabama for a job.
The weapon or accessories have not really been used since it was Fall when I bought the weapon and now the bears are still in hibernation. Holsters look like new minus one scratch, and I broke the holsters in already using baggies.
Bought this last October (2022).
MSRP: $1949.00
SKU: 11623
Superb fire-arm
w/extras
The 460 XVR can step down to be the equal of a 44 Magnum simply by loading 45 Colt +P Heavy (see pictures), but a 44 with hardly any recoil in the XFrame. Or, for something warmer, a light 454 Casull Underwood Xtreme Penetrator (250 grain 1512 ft. Lbs.), or for something hot, a 454 Casull Heavy at 1800 ft. lbs, or for big game, .460 Buffalo Bore Dangerous Game at 2,455 ft. lbs.
In other words, this is handily like having multiple weapons. Starting at 300 grains and 1100 ft. Lbs., you can walk right up to 2,800 lbs in as small of increments as you want. I stop at the Buff Bore 300 grain 2,455 ft. Lbs. as that is as hot as I can shoot the snub without punishment. I'm loaded with a milder .460 300 Grain Underwood 2,040 ft. Lbs. XTP JHP now that the bears are asleep. I also often wear in-ear electronics on foot.
I planned to alternate holsters this Spring between a Galco Great Alaskan chest rig, Diamond Guide's Choice chest rig, and a cross draw Diamond with. The Nill grips mitigate recoil by placing the recoil over a larger contact area between your palm and the weapon, and the back of the grip is completely covered by the walnut. Of course the Nil Walnut grips are gorgeous.
While S&W delivered the weapon initially w/the wrong front site and I swapped it at my own cost, the weapon has been a delight since. Less than 100 rounds through. If you are in Alaska or know someone in Alaska, I have between $400 and $450 worth of ammo you can have. It is not possible to ship ammo to the lower 48 from Alaska so don't ask.
Here's a couple of gun reviews of this 3.5" Performance Center 460.
