So it is impractical to shoot off a box of buffalo bore 300 grain 2560 ft. lbs. pounds cartridges due 1. to cost and 2. recoil punishment.

My .460 is used for Alaska protection. I have both a Diamond D chest rig and belt holster. I’m often in and out of my truck unlocking gates or moving about the property on a six wheeler. I live in Big Lake Alaska in a larger cabin.

So what I’ve done yesterday and today is I’ve shot four strings of five shots that first up have four 45 Colt loads followed by the 5th chamber containing a 460 Buffalo Bore bomb.

If the fifth shot is basically in the target group I’m good and I also have evidence that I’m not being spooked by the upcoming bomb. So far so good. I do not allow myself extra time for the fifth chamber. I’ve done both single action and double action. Very pleased with the glass smooth action of the performance center weapon, although it is heavy.

Pics: Me and Bruce Wayne at Hatcher’s Pass where we’ve encountered both black and brown bear. 460 XVR 3.5” PC. Little stinker near the Russian River. Short range rifle kill during a 2020 moose hunt; the grizzly responded to a moose call. This Summer 2022 - actually two grizzly in the area that day.
