Absent Comrade
There are countless Randall knives out there with a name etched on the reverse trademark side of the blade. With rare few exceptions these guys are never identified and fade into anonymity. This is an exception. This Randall model #3-6" is from the collection of my late good friend Billy H. Redburn.
In the early hours of 18 April 1942 Billie Redburn was one of the armorers aboard USS Hornet who loaded ordnance on Jimmy Doolittle's B-25 in preparation for the first U.S. air raid on the Japanese home islands. Billie was one of our heroes from the "greatest generation".
This is an early 1980's model #3-6" with six options. It features stag, finger grips, brass hilt, wrist thong, and an early white compass installed in the butt as well as Billie's name etched in the blade. The original sheath is a rare, period Johnson smooth-back version.
