Was shooting some of my guns yesterday at about 40 or 45yds as you can see in this pic:

When I decided to see what my 66 could do out that far, nothing formal just me resting an arm on the table and kind slouching in the lawn chair and seeing if I could hit anything-must say I was a bit surprised!

Not a "group" but more of a pattern, however anything standing out there would be in some trouble :D

You'll note the new rubber grips, not pretty but they fit like a glove.

Nice gun and nice shooting. Those rubber grips make it look all business and they work great too.

If you practice at that range just a little, and use bags at the rest, you'd be suprised just how good you can do.;)

That's how I gauge my shooting, it's either "good enough" or it's bad. I like those grips, I put them on everything.

And no neighbors anywhere for at least a mile.;)

It would be soooo nice just to walk outside right now and shoot whatever I wanted to shoot without dealing with yahoos on a public or private range.

I'm jealous of you AND this guy, who has his own 230 yard range with steel targets at all kinds of distances.

Paradise!

Tom,
I wasn't saying that I didn't have any near neighbors, but just that it would be so nice not to. Does anyone know if there's any property for sale in Anartica?:D

model 19 shots

I tried the same eventually moving back to 140 yds after reading an article by Elmer Keith. I was hitting an 8"x8" post with extreme regularity - I was quite pleased as my eyes are pretty bad

I haven't done it for quite a while, but where I used to deer hunt, there was a range where we could shoot out to almost a half mile. I told the owner of the property that I could hit a bowling pin at 100 yards with my 1911 ( a Springfield that is highly customized). He didn't believe me, so we set up several at the 100 yard mark. It took a couple of shots to get the sight picture right, but then I knocked them all down one right after the other form an offhand stance. It just takes practice.
