I just wanted to share some photos I took a few days ago while kayaking. I finally picked up some new batteries for the camera I keep in my truck (one that I'm not afraid to abuse), so I took it out on the pond and got some shots.

They aren't the best quality... it was early, grey, and drizzly so not super conditions... especially for the camera I was using. I started fishing along the shore before the sun came up, then got out on the water around 6:30 (the last photo was actually the first of the day taken before sunrise). It was a good morning. I hope to go back when the weather is more cooperative.. but I still wont take out either of my more expensive cameras.

It may have been grey and drizzly, but it sure made for some beautiful and peaceful pictures! Thanks for sharing!

Nice pics. You sure don't enjoy scenes like these in the cities. Thanks for sharing. It makes me remember my younger days.

USAF385 - Like Cyrano said - You have a very good eye.

To give you a hint at how long I've been shooting things with cameras as well as guns, my first SLR had a non-return mirror (Edixa Reflex-D - totally manual everything) and while I was stationed at King Salmon, Alaska, I had a night job running the base photo hobby shop at night for $120.00 a month. My AF dayjob was fixing things filled with vacuum tubes and being an A2C (E-3)at the time, I got $95.00 a month.

Making a long story short, Over the years I've learned there are two major aspects in photography, technical and artistic. While I can take technically correct pictures, artistically, I cannot carry a tune in a bucket. I'm jealous of your ability:D

In a way, I'm glad you didn't have a camera with better glass attached with you or I might have actually been envious.;)

BTW - What camera did you use? Being a die hard film guy, I'm slowly (ie: kicking and screaming) transitioning into the world of digital photography, and I have to admit that even the mid-range point and shoot gadgets on the market these days can produce images almost as good as the real thing.

Thanks for the compliments. :) Photography is one of those hobbies that comes and goes in phases for me. I really enjoy it but sometimes need to almost force myself to get back into it.

Johnnie,

The camera was a 6 megapixel Sony DSC-H2. It is at least 4 years old. It actually takes very good photos in good lighting.
