I visited my FFL today to pick up the 1026 that I recently bought from fellow member dvutah and came home very, very pleased.

First, the pistol was cleaner than I ever expected from a used gun. I thought that I was pretty fastidious about cleaning, but this one almost embarrassed me. Here's a quick picture:

The second surprise was discovering the grips. I didn't pick up on it when looking at the pictures in the classified, but it came with Hogue grips that appear to be either original or an extremely well-done set of modified ones. I had expected that I'd need to track down some Hogues for one of the other 10s and modify them.

On the way home I stopped at the range to test it out and got a couple more surprises.

I'm fairly accustomed to recoil (actually took along my 480 Ruger Raging Bull for a little work out, as well), but still expected a bit of bark from my first 10. With 180gr Rem FMJs (all the range had) this pistol is a ***** cat. It doesn't even seem to have the perceived recoil of my Sig P226 in 357Sig which is probably because of the weight from the all-steel versus aluminum frame.

It also has a much nicer single action trigger than my Sig. and is equal, or better, in accuracy. I was enjoying it so much I forgot to even check the DA trigger.

Now I begin adjusting it for my use, starting with a left-hand mag release from Smith and then a good holster.

Anyone know/recommend a good holstermaker (or an off-the-shelf supplier) that still does things for the 1026s??

Blade Tech makes a nice Kydex holster, S&W has some nice leather also.. When ordering a holster for the 1026 also refrence the S&W 4506 for holster selection, they are close enough in size, thats what I did for my 1026. The hogues are aftermarket, the gun came with delrin placic wrap around one piece grips. They are still avaliable at S&W in straight or palm swell, (curved backstrap)

I met dvutah monday for the purchase of the 1076 he also had. Came with 3 used white follower mags, original box and tools, factory (though dim) night sites. I plan on installing adjustable night sights, I am used to target shooting, and they are dim anyway.
I couldnt afford both when they were listed together, so bill_in_TX I owe you thanks, because you are the reason I was able to aquire my first 10xx series to go along with the 610, also unfired with 10mm, just a box of 40 so far.
Like your 1026 the 1076 is very clean. Being used it does show some mechanical parts wear, but the outside is not scratched up, barely any external marks at all. Havent been able to shoot it yet, didnt actually think I would find one in close driving distance before I had any ammo. Pays to keep your eyes open though!
