I have a .38 Model: 10-5. It looks like it just came out of the box. I'm thinking about the SD40, although I really don't want to trade it, I'm wondering what it's worth for a trade in.

Depends on the details, such as barrel length, round or square butt etc....if you like it you should keep it. You can always save up for the new one.

I'm not going to trade it. I love to shoot it, it shoots about a straight as any gun can. I'd just like to know what it's worth. The guy I bought it from tells me I stoled it.

Anywhere from $300 to $450. I bought a Mod 10-5 LNIB two years ago for around 400. I shoot it often, great gun. The Mod 10 standard barrel is one of the classics, keep it and save up to buy the new gun.

you will take a bath on a trade in no matter what.....

the best way, if you have to get rid of the model 10 for the SD, is to sell it outright.

j&G has some for $185.00 - but, these are pretty rugged on the outside and usually sound mechanically. I believe they are police trade ins.
