It’s funny what a fellow will accumulate over the years without much thought or planning. I like most all kinds of guns and never considered myself a collector of S&W handguns but have ended up with more of them than any other brand of handgun, rifle or shotgun. This is surprising as I really like Rugers too and have both handguns and rifles made by them but my S&W handguns still outnumber all my Rugers by a fair margin. If you asked me what kind of handguns I prefer to collect I would probably say Colt’s or Rugers. Yes I know that is sacrilege, especially on this forum but I fell in love with a big New Service .44 Special as a young adult and have liked Colt handguns ever since. Dad had a brutish little blued .357 Magnum snubbie Speed Six that really impressed me as teenager so I of course followed his lead and got my own, except mine is Stainless. I really don’t know how all these S&Ws ended up here. Oh, I went through a few 28s over the years before a nice cased 27 dash something came to stay. Wish I still had a couple of the 28s back, well really just one, my 4”. I did last year pick up 5” 27 and a very nice 6” 28 that has found a home for the foreseeable future. Made a few good trades recently too. A Glock 22 straight across for a 4” 19-4. A Stevens 12 gauge and boot for a snub 686+ a couple of shows back. Traded a rough AK (and boot) on a 52-1 last year too. I consider all of these fine trades in the right direction. Just this past weekend I bought a snub 19-3 so may have to sell off a snub 19-6. Sure hate to sell a nice gun but how many snub 19s does a fellow need anyway? Especially since I prefer to shoot my beefier Speed Six! I guess I need to quit looking so hard for S&Ws and get back on the hunt for Colts and Rugers. Except there are not that many Colts and Rugers I really want but there are several S&Ws I would still like to have. There was that sweet Official Police Target at the last show, and a little Ruger Bear Cat or 4” .22 LR SP101 would be nice. But then there is a snub 66 on my list, and a M&P Pro, and an 845, 4” 686+, 5” 625, some more Mountain Guns, etc., etc., etc,……………….
