Anyone ever see a Model 10 like the one in the photo below?

I've never seen a 6" M10 with a lanyard ring before. The photo is all I have and it's pretty lacking. With those stocks, if correct I'm guessing it's prior to 1968, probably a 10-5, is that correct?

Thoughts on originality, value, etc?

Can't be much help but here are my two thoughts:
Could be a refinished victory (unlikely imo, but possible)
Could be the lanyard ring was added after the fact. I have a 66-1 with a hole for a lanyard ring right through the main serial number on the butt, so I'm pretty sure it was added after it left the factory. No lanyard ring on it when I bought it, and I have a Hogue monogrip on it, so it doesn't show. (Serial number was re-stamped elsewhere on the frame, presumably when the butt was drilled, so it's cool ATF-wise as far as I'm aware.)

All kinds of possibilities with this one. If the stocks and barrel are original to the gun, it was made anytime between 1952 (first ramp front sight) and 1967 (end of diamond around the grip screw), so call it anything between an M & P and a 10-5. If you can find out, a partial serial number with any letter prefix should tell you the variation.

Chances are the lanyard ring is aftermarket, but never say never with S & W. Could it also be a Victory Model, rebarreled, refinished and with different stocks? Sure.

If original, I'd guess $300 or so, a little less if the lanyard ring was not professionally done. If factory original, a little more?

I agree with the above statements and I've never seen a model 10 or M&P other then victory models with a Lanyard ring. I did have a reblued Victory model that could pass for it in looks though. I sold it or I would post a picture for you of course if it's a Victory it should have a V by the serial number.

I have seen numerous M10s and M&Ps fitted with factory rings. Many police agencies ordered them that way. I think the ring is cool and have tried to buy a couple but prices were too high for my taste.

Thanks for the replies. Given the hammer, stocks, finish, barrel and front sight differences that's a lot of work to do to a Victory model gun just to get a lanyard but anythings possible.

It's at a local estate sale today. Since I just heard about it yesterday and I'm still recovering from knee surgery last Friday, (not sure I could tolerate the driving or the sitting) I guess I'll never know for sure what it is. Just thought that if it set off any alarms (I'm a sucker for 6" M10's anyway) I might try and attend. Thanks again.

I have a 5" 10-5 with a lanyard ring.
SN D1343xx. The ring is mounted past the
last SN, which places it centered 1/2" from the
backstrap at the butt.Is this correct for a factory
lanyard Ring? The gun is blued, but the ring is too
beat up to tell the finish for sure.
