I got this little gizmo from my girlfriend as a Valentine's Day gift. I was doubtful as to how well it would work, but I was very pleasantly surprised. I realized two years ago that a man with no more hair than I have didn't need a barber any more. I've been shaving my head about twice a week with various razors, including Wilkinson and Shichk. This little jewel beat 'em all. Just put your middle finger of either hand through the ring on top, and keep the little wheels on your head. Just roll across your scalp with very light pressure, and you are rewarded with a slick shave. Yul Brenner couldn't do it better. It can go with the grain, or against it; really doesn't matter. I had a few places that I could get with a regular razor better, but I think I'll get better with this thing the more I use it. Thirteen bucks at my local chain pharmacy, and it will also accept a Gillette Sensor refill with the enclosed adaptor, or a refill designed for the razor itself. Most things like this don't work for me, but I don't think anybody who regularly shaves his head can go wrong with this one. The bottle of social lubrication just happened to sneak into the picture.

If anybody ever feels the urge to try the hairless, "Kojak" look someday I would like to give you a friendly word of advice.

Don't ever do it in the middle of the summer after you have a tan going on and your hair has grown out enough to act as a "sun shade." I made that mistake many, many years ago and when my friend got through shaving my head he mumbled some comment about something or other.

When I looked in the mirror I realized what he had been mumbling about. It looked like I was wearing one of those white, as fresh snow, rubber swimming caps that my mother used to wear in our pool.

To this day I always wear my hair extremely short, 000 blade short, and I never, I say again never, let it get long enough on the sides to give me that "contrast" look when I get around to cutting it.

Colorado Kool Aid and a razor, sounds like an interesting evening.

It was all fun & games until someone, me, looked in the mirror......:o

For the record, it was during daylight hours, a time frame brought on by workin' the night shift.

I might have to give one those there thingies a shot. The issue I have though is no one seems to make tough enough blades. My whiskers are like piano wire and one stroke with a razor puts multiple dents in the blade. Whether it's a 10 pack of disposables or an expensive 6 bladed cartridge 2 shaves is all I get from it. I tried an electric razor once and it about pulled my face off. For what it costs me to shave Salma Hayek should be doing it for me:eek:

And when Salma's on vacation, Penelope Cruz.;)

I have been using a ladies leg razor on my head for years. It has thin safety wires that keep the blades from digging into my lumpy head when I'm shaving areas that I can't see. If I use a razor without these wires my head is a bloody mess.

Strato, I agree with you about quality of blades, not to mention the expense. However, I usually shave the old scalp only about twice a week, and the hair there doesn't seem to be near as tough as my face. I've shaved my face with razors so tough that it made me look like I'd been hit with a load of birdshot when I got through. I'm still working on a reasonable cure for the face; so far the Shick Quattro or the Gillette Mach series gets the nod, but the damn refills are so high, I have to go see my credit union to get a loan before buying them.

I've been using the head blade as well for about four years or so, and unless I can't shave for whatever reason I will never go back to having hair. The only issue I have is with the cold but in the warmer weather it is not an issue. I was surprised(and pleased) at all the favorable comments from the ladies. My wife likes it as well which is the best part! I recommend it, but it may not be for everyone.

jframe, I shave my head everytime I shave my face and the head whiskers are a lot softer than the face ones. The part got too wide and I don't look good in a comb over so it all had to go. I've had the best luck with the Fusion razors as far as getting a close shave with no bloodshed but after two shaves the blades become blunt instruments.

I have been shaving my head for about 2 months now, picked up a headblade today.
Not any closer than a mach 3 or quattro, but it does seem a little quicker.

Frenchy told us here about those about 5 years ago. I tried them and a lot of other methods to shave mein kopf. For a lazy, shaky guy like me a Norelco shaver is the best. The trick is you need a high end Norelco with 3 heads and 3 blades per head. It cuts close enough (with no razor burn) that it lasts me 3 days, and no blood running down the back of my head. 2nd runner up is a Wahl "balding clipper", gives a very, very, close shave.

jframes gizmo works great if take your time and have a steady hand.

J-frame, are you the same guy who had the Henry Golden Boy with a tang sight and were shooting tractor disks at 200 yards on the Rimfire Central forum?
