Something to think about next time you mow the lawn

After this present rain is over and my 2 acres of lawn dries out, I'll be cutting it with my John Deere 130 mower.
I "carry" everywhere including cutting the grass.
This time settles me down and lets me relax and think about "things".
If you have nothing to do, come on over and I'll set a chair out for you.

I have happy a happy lawn...

I read somewhere a long time ago that the reason we humans are attracted to an expanse of green lawn goes back in our DNA to when we first developed a "human" type brain and left the trees, it was leaving the trees that necessitated our ancestors to really consider their next move, with all the predators about. Therefore that vision of a vast Savannah spread out before us tingles something in our ancient brain.

I still live in the trees. I cut a 24" fir down for my neighbor last week.

He's trying to get out of the trees also.

Not everyone is out of the woods yet.

Saw a show on tv about plants and flowers in the desert and how they give off odors to attract bees and insects for pollination and also sense when a ant or caterpillar is on them and they give of a different odor to repel them.

Now I have learned about grass..................
I would switch to Bermuda or Clover that does not need to be mowed but it does not grow in my area of Nevada.

It's well known that plants are just like any other living thing. They want to survive, procreate, and acquire territory. So are vegans "Plantists"?

Anyone other old person remember a book from the early '70's called The Secret Life of Plants?
