Why do I always get "Sorry-no matches" everytime I search?
Am I doing it wrong? I normally search for discussions about 9mm and .40 S&W powder info.
I use simple phrases of "9MM" or ".40 S&W" or "9mm .40S&W" I do not use quotation marks in my search, I am just trying to show my exact phrase I use.
Thanks
Dennis

DRE, Are you using "search this thread" or search this forum"?

The search forum only appears when you have the main page of the reloading forum displayed over ------------->>> on the right side.

If you open your post than the search post is up top ^^^

It seems to like 9mm rather than 9 mm (with a space)

Searches are very particular to what you type. Capitalization is important, spaces are important, too much information on the search can restrict it too much. Most search engines use and/or for exclusion or inclusion, IE. the use of "and" requires that both conditions exist while the use of "or" requires that only one condition exist.

Make your searches simple, instead of looking for both "9mm .40 s&w" which will look for the exact phrase and content, try just "9mm" or just "40 s&w" or just "40". or "9mm and 40" which should give you more resluts.

I don't get it either.

I too most often get a Sorry - no match response. This happens even if I cut and paste a title from that forum directly into the search engine!

Frustrating as I hate reposting common questions that I know have been asked before.

Make sure you are using the first search bar, which is the Google search bar. If you use the second bar, it's very specific on what you have to type to get it to work. The Google search function is found near the top right of the screen under private messages, not the search button right at the top of the first post in the forum area.

Unfortunately, the search engine has been totally screwed up since the change in ownership. Searches like "642" don't work at all. I even tried reading some of the posts in the "Forum Office" section to try and figure it out and no joy.

Sjmjax, I agree. I can read a post and want to read more like it. I copy and past right from the title and search " sorry, no match found. try a different phrase ". It can really be annoying. Then you have to wait 30 seconds to be told same thing again. It seems once it tells me that, no matter what I type in, it can't find. Anyway, I was just seeing if it was something I was doing wrong
