I am looking for a source for 246 gr. LRN bullets like the original projectiles for the .44 Russian and .44 Special.

Does anybody sell these as reloading components?

I would prefer swaged hollow base, but cast flat base would work as well. All I can find are the 240 LSWC or LFN "Cowboy" bullets. Buffalo Arms lists a nice LRN-HB, but it is 255 gr., not 246 gr. (I am being picky).

It would be nice if Remington and Winchester sold their full line of projectiles as components.

Thanks,

Hunter

I have been handloading the .44 Special since 1975 and I have never seen that bullet for sale as a component.

455 hunter, I looked for several months before I came to the conclusion that no one makes this bullet anymore.

What I ended up doing is buying the mold to cast my own and that took awhile cuz no one makes that mold anymore. With the RN it is not recommended for use in a lever rifle and it fell out of use.

If you want, let me know and I can go get the mold number for you and you may find it.

Totally agree - this was a factory ONLY bullet be it from Winchester or Remington.
If there isn't a mold in the aftermarket you'll not duplicate it.

Lyman mould #429383 casts a 246 gr. RN bullet as close to the factory offering as you're going to get. I have purchased them from:

LTD Custom Cast Bullets
26070 Starlite Lane
Richland Center, WI 53581

They are very high quality bullets and I can recommend them without reservation.

At one time, Remington sold the 246 gr .44 bullets as components. I have not seen them offered for many years. I still have a few rounds from a box I reloaded years ago. I sure wish they were avaialble again. Dean
