The Oakland County Sportsmen's Club (OCSC) will be holding their annual swap meet this Sunday, March 8, beginning at 10:00 am. The club is located in Clarkston (Independence Township) at 4770 Waterford Road. Here is a link to some background information on our organization:

I not only wanted to take this opportunity to promote our function, but I was hoping to finally be able to meet some of the many forum members that reside in the metro-Detroit and outlying areas. It's not a huge facility and I will be there all day helping a fellow member at his tables, so I'll try to post a "Broker 57 - S&W Forum" sign somewhere on a wall or table and maybe we'll get lucky enough to bump into each other.

At any rate, there have always been some good deals in the past. Be forewarned, however, that you'll need to get there mighty early to beat one particular forum member to any of them

Thank you, Lee, for allowing me to post this. Hope to see some of you there!

Hi Mark. Sounds like a good place to go this Sunday.
I tried to download the Java Scipt and ended up with just dots instead of words on the flyer.
Maybe it's my old computer.

I'm gonna try to get up there. Back in the late 60's, I used to go up there all the time for the SCCA races, but haven't been there for 30+ years. Maybe I'll see you guys.

Moose and Tom:

I look forward to hopefully meeting up with you tomorrow.

Moose, I emailed a copy of the flier to you.

Tom, the Waterford Hills racing program is still going strong. Unfortunately, we don't do "Meadowbrook Weekend" anymore, which coincided with the Meadowbrook Concours d'Elegance. They would hold vintage races all weekend and have a featured marque, like Ferrari. Lots of interesting cars would show up.

I was able to attend, as this show is only 4 miles from my house. It's a small show, but a lot of good people and stories. I was able to meet up with a few people that I have not seen in a while. I picked up up a couple of boxes of 38 special ammo at a good price, shared a few stories and was home in time to watch NASCAR. Best wishes, John

John, I wish I could have met you (unless I know you already!). I was there from 7:45 am until almost 2 pm. I bought a lot of things I didn't need like grips, holsters and .223 ammo, but they were at prices that I couldn't pass up. I did put a S&W Forum sign on my friend's table but it wasn't really visible and I was never there for very long.

I spent the afternoon trying to talk a guy down on his 64-2 2" RB in the box with papers and tools. His price was fair but I just wouldn't have been able to justify it at home. He ended up selling it (or at least putting it away for someone) just before I left. He also had a very clean 4" 64-3 SB.

The "one that got away" was an older man walking around with a plastic pistol case. I asked if he was buying or selling. He replied that it depended on what I was going to offer him. Long story short is that he had a very clean Smith pre-model 10 which I definitely believe to be a Victory model. It was one of those deals where he didn't want to give me a price but he wouldn't take any offers either. I left for 10 minutes to go look at a 5 screw pre-model 10 in someone's car and he was gone when I returned.

Our club holds one, sometimes two swap meets a year. We have our annual wild game banquet in January, and our shotgun banquet is coming up this Saturday, March 14. In July we have our "Friends of OCSC" dinner that includes many gun raffles. There is a gun safe raffle for $10/ticket that is stocked with a rifle, pistol, black powder rifle, bow and many accessories. I had asked in the past about posting it on the Lounge and did not get a response.

With Lee's permission I will keep everyone updated on our activities. I'll also see what I can do about a "S&W Forum" meeting there some afternoon or evening. Our general membership meeting is the last Wednesday of every month and all are welcome. We used to have a waiting list to join but there are now openings so we would love to have some new (Smith loving) members.

Thanks for everyone's interest!

I was sick as a dog this weekend so driving across the state was not in the cards. Definately keep us posted on the next one.
