Hi All,
New to the M&P line, as a new Shield owner. I have a couple Glocks, and when I get one, I usually acquire a spare spring of each type found in the gun. Are M&P parts similarly available? I'm not finding them online as widely as other brands.

Anything in particular that I should keep spares of on hand?

Thanks
John

Any spare parts, springs, etc. are very hard to get, especially parts for the Shield. Unless you are going to be shooting many thousands of rounds, you will not likely need any spare parts. Also the gun is covered with a lifetime warranty, to the original owner. S&W will fix any issues or send you a simple part, like a spring, for free. I get that your trying to be proactive, but it may not be necessary.

Don't have a shield but shoot competition with the larger models. I came from the school of having all kinds of spare parts and have almost enough parts to build a spare pistol from parts (except frame and slide). I have ~60K rounds on my 9mm Core and I've replaced the striker assembly(which is the pin and spring) at around 45K(it didn't break) and the trigger return spring at around 50K(it did break). You will certainly get a lot of suggestions, I'm just passing on my personal experiences.

They WERE available at midway and speedshooters... Smith has been really **** at getting out parts lately though...

S&W parts...its not hard to see why GLOCK has one up on them...I have yet to see a web site or supplier (Midway, Brownell's, Glockmeister, Glockstore for example) that carries just about every part available for a S&W product. Even Pierce mag extensions has been slow to produce extended mag products...I own a couple of Smith's but after market (or OEM parts) are virtually non-existent except Apex stuff which should have been in the original S&W product...just saying....my opinion...yours may differ...
