sparks

Hello all new to the forum just picked up new 642 pro i ran a box of federal 130 and a box of federal jhp through it.Trigger was still stiff so i got some empty brass preceded to dry fire and happened to notice spark so i swung out the cylinder and fired there are sparks coming out the firing pin hole i checked my other smiths and they don't spark any help would be appreciated.

This is a known "feature" of some newer S&W revolvers.
I don't recall anyone saying it's a problem or causes any damage to the gun, just something about the firing pin that causes sparks.
 
Unless it is a flintlock , I don't see how this "feature" is a display of the quality we expect from our favorite brand .
 
I did a search on the forum and found this:

"The sparks are the result of the stainless steel firing pin interacting with the titanium firing pin bushing that is pressed into the frame".
 
A new ignition source for when primers really get scarce..
