I didnt watch it because I knew some idiots would politicize it. That said,on the news yesterday--there was a clip that shows that Clint Eastwood did win a statue. Was it for best Director or Producer?? I dont get it because--I figured and heard that the idiots in hollywood were going to snub Eastwood and American Snipe even though it did get several nods.

I thought it great that Taya Kyle showed up holding Chris's Dogtags.

Also, another question--did they also snub Angelina Jolie and her movie: Unbroken? Im figuring they did. Same with Fury. However,I heard that The Imitation Game got something...

We watched it. It's strangely fascinating to see people who make a zillion dollars a picture throw in a demand in their exception speech for "equal pay for everyone!!!" while the key grips and stunt men in their movies make pennies in comparison to them. The host, who came out in his under wear at one point, said something to Robert Duvall in the audience to help out with a stupid gag he was doing, and Duvall just sat there with no expression except that of slight disgust. That was the high point for me. Next year I might do something more interesting like get a catheter or somethin'.

I was in a strange mood......

Best director for Unforgiven and Million Dollar Baby .

I was distracted or something when I saw 'Unforgiven' and didn't get a lot out of it and didn't remember much about it. I watched it again about a week ago and I now put it in the 'great' movie category. I think I'll watch it again.

Frankly while "Unbroken" is a great story I didn't think it was a great movie, Jolie's directing was very pedestrian, nothing special and I believe her first attempt.

I did think "The Imitation Game" was a very well acted, written and directed film and (feeling strongly Hollyweird would ignore "American Sniper") thought it would win.

I was hopeful that Bradley Cooper would get the nod for best actor though again not surprised. I only caught the last two awards and was disappointed the actor who did win didn't acknowledge the other actors in his category.

I also feel "Gran Torino" is a very good film and beautifully directed. Eastwood is a thorn in the side of the liberal film world (along with an actor or two) and will not get the accolades he deserves at this time.

Did, American Sniper win anything at all other than that sound mixing award?

The "Hollywood Elite", Michael Moore and the jealous ones just could not bring themselves to honor a REAL American Hero, a great film, and a true story. They gave the film American Sniper the Sound Award Oscar to sort of show they weren't "black-balling" it (yea, right) but that was all they could muster up the courage to do - pretty sad actually! :(

The only part that "they" can not deal with is that Sniper has become just about the largest grossing movies in their life time and even with all their negative press, it is STILL doing better than their main stream boring movies are. That's the real way to say &@$# &)@ ..............

I really don't care what movie wins an Oscar or doesn't. I cast my vote at the ticket booth. If I want to see a movie, I pay for a ticket and see the movie. I'm delighted American Sniper has done so well - a fine example of ticket booth "voting."

Host Neil Patrick Harris did pay tribute to American Sniper at the beginning of the show.

He mentioned with awe that the eight nominated films took in $800 million but then playfully added that American Sniper represents $360 million of that figure. (He could have added that The Imitation Game represented another huge chunk of the proceeds.)

Remember, the Oscars can be a lot of political jockeying with producer Harvery Weinstein being mentioned often for "buying" votes. His Shakespeare in Love took home best picture Oscar beating out Saving Private Ryan.

And until The Departed director Martin Scorsece was always snubbed despite Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, Gangs of New York and on and on.

Bottom line: Eastwood will always be remembered for his directorial efforts, not so many of the so-called winners. Same
for Scorsece.

So it was and forever shall be.

P.S.: Michael Moore lives in Michigan; shall we judge that state by his choice? :D

I quit watching the awards many years ago, however I thought I would force myself to watch this one just for the heck of it. The stage and production was very well done, the master of ceremonies was one of the worst, the show was racial and political but Lady Gaga performing the Sound of Music was a pleasant surprise. If I would have heard a Gansta Rap song I would have turned the tv off at that point. At four hours long that is about 3 hours too much and it was not that entertaining to me and I probably won't be watching the Academy Awards again for many years.
