I had an interesting experience the other day. I pulled into a chicken and biscuit place to get biscuit and a cup of ice tea, when a fellow came running to flag me down. There was a car stopped in the parking lot with its trunk open and several people standing around. Oh oh...He needs a jump I thought. Then I noticed it was a Tesla.

Guy comes up to my window and asks..."Have you got an extension cord I can borrow?" No joke. I guess he was dead in the water. I told him, sorry I didn't, which was the truth. There was a 110 outlet there on the building...can you charge one of those things with 110? No idea myself. There is a WaWa store a couple miles down the highway with a Telsa charger, but I gess he was DEAD. The car wasn't even in a parking space, just stopped in the middle of the drive in lane.

It was gone the next day, so I guess they did something. No different than running out of gas I suppose, but he could have walked to a gas station. If he could find a can.

A cousin pre-ordered a Ford Lightning and took ownership when it arrived. He learned very quickly he had to take a generator with him when he traveled from his home to the gulf coast. Several times he had to stop and sit for an hour to get enough power to make it to his coast home, He no longer owns it.

Read about a world wide survey on electric car ownership. Here in the US, 46% say they'll never buy another. OCONUS, the percentages are lower, possibly since some nations are going to/have banned ICE after a certain year.

As of have written before, there is a long way to go before electric vehicles are perfected. I doubt it will be in our lifetimes.

The only way they will be little more than a golf cart on steroids is when they become totally self regenerating. As of now, they are little more than a fad and I foresee that fad fading quickly. In addition, electric cars are just kicking the can down the road as the power used to charge them comes from the usual suspects...errr..."sources" that we have been using for over a century.

Woe be to the automaker that goes completely to electric vehicles.

Someday, perhaps there wil be nothing but ev's....but not now.

Personally, I own a classic car with a V8 that sucks gas like there is no tomorrow. It also pulls my boat BETTER than a pickemuptruck.

As a retiree, I joy in the fact that a 44 year old car is still running. If I finally go electric it will probably on my way to the nursing home.

Our govmt is screwing us.
