I need a speed loader for my model 41 mags. Anybody have one they don't like. Or any I should avoid. Thanks

I have the HKS 22S which sells for about $3-4 on Ebay

magloaders

Works great, though you will need to work it down a couple of rounds at a time to keep them parallel

I use a simple thumb type loader which depresses the magazine button. I got it from Gil Hebard. It works as fast as I can load it. Just a couple bucks.

I have an old 41 and the S&W magazines have a thumb lever on the side of the mag that allows pulling the follower downward, making loading very easy. Are the newer magazines different?

I believe the Mags are the same. It is just that the button is small and after shooting 100-200 rounds that is filling 10-20 mags the little button starts getting painful to pull down again. The Red HKS pulls down the button and holds it there. You still have to index it down the mag ever couple of rounds or they will get turned around in the mag.

The best couple of buck that I have spent on shooting so far.

I watched someone using one of those loaders at the last high-round-count weekend training I attended, and asked him about it since I hadn't seen it before. He said it was "OK" but flimsy enough that he had broken at least one before. These were for larger double-stack 9mm mags, and it appeared that the same loader might not work on single stacks or different size mags.

I nodded, and went back to chunking away with my UpLULA loader which happily loads mags for every size and shape and caliber 3rd gen S&W I own. I spent a lot less time than most that weekend loading mags.
