Hey S&W forum.

Im looking for a speedloader for my 627-1 N-Frame.
Can't seem to find any.

The nearest ive got is a HKS 27A, which should fit the N-frame, but its listed for S&W 27/28.
The 27/28 is a N-frame, but is the cylinder size the same and are the speedloader compatible ?

If your 627-1 is a six-round .357, it should fit the same speedloader as a model 27/28. Hope this is helpful.

Thanks for the help.

It is a 6 Shot .357 627-1 N-frame.
Just ordered a few Speedloaders from HKS.

How about the Safariland Comp II or III, does anyone there fit ?

It would appear that the only options currently available for your 6-shot N-frame .38/.357 are the HKS and 5-Star loaders, both use the same manual of arms (insert & twist) but the 5-Star twist in the opposite direction from the HKS. They also cost appx double, but are made of billet aluminum - if you are interested in bling.

Adios,

Pizza Bob

I have some 5-Star 8 shot N frame speed loaders. The quality and weight is excellent. The only negative is with the speed loader full, the shells rattle a little. Sometimes its annoying. I have heard the HKS do not.

Don't believe the comp II or comp III are available for N frame. I know they work on K frames (have several) I use for competition shooting.

627s are the stainless version of blue model 27s?

I have used Safariland N1 Speedloaders sinces they first became available. But they were discontinued years ago. I have also used the SL Variant spring loaded ones, but being a creature of habit, I still cling to the Safariland. Safariland never made a Comp ll or lll for the six shot N frame .357 Smiths.
I am a big fan of the Safariland speedloaders. They are compact, positive lock, no rattle, easy release, and will not throw rounds all over if dropped, and are almost indestructable. I am still using the ones I bought nearly 40 years ago and can't tell which ones I have are the oldest. Sad they don't still make them.

However, they show up occasionally on ebay. A few months ago, I lucked into a group of about 10 for sale in one lot. They are out there, just hard to find.

Almost. They have a 5.5" barrel with an unfluted cylinder, and are a round butt model. Where as the 27's are sb models with various barrel lengths..They were only made for a short period of time in the late 80's-early 90's..They do have the stippled top though.

Thank you all for the replies.

Ill stick with my HKS speedloaders.
(Which by the way came this morning. about 24 hours from order to delivery, thats awesome.)

They fit nicely, now i just need some pouches for them.
Maybe a nice leather holster for the S&W.
My current one aint all that great.
But its not so important, as i dont carry it on my person.
