I inquired with Speer on a good target load for my .40 cal in 180gr. They responded to check out item # 53958 which is 180gr TMJ. I was able to find some 165gr at a good price but was then emailed by the ammo dealer that he had one case of 180gr Speer item # 53652. I checked on the Speer website and cannot find this item #. I did find some ballistics data on both item #s and they appear to be identical. I went ahead and bought the # 53652 based on the ballistics being the same. I called Speer but they don't work on Friday. I see online stores usually selling one or the other item # but can't find anyone selling both. Anyone know if there is any difference at all on these item #s? Seems like when I search the 53652 item # I find it a lot on state government order sheets for police departments, so maybe it was police department issue item number? Thanks for any clarification.
