I have always shot Federal and Winchester through my pistols, but with money the way it is I am looking for a cheaper option that is still quality. Anyone here have experience with the Lawman TMJ stuff? Seems to be about 2-3 dollars a box cheaper if you search some online.

How is acuracy, feel, etc.?

Thanks.

Where are you shopping for your ammo? Federal at Wal-Mart is generally the cheapest you can find in 9mm, 40, 45, etc. I'm sure Speer Lawman is fine, but I have never seen it cheaper than the Wally World Federal.

The Lawman TMJ is good ammo. Not a lot of difference between that and the Federal and the WWB. Buy whatever is cheapest.

The range in my town only allows TMJ, so Walmart ammo wont work for me. Its an indoor range so they are concerned with lead.

Stinks but it is the way it is.

Speer Lawman ammo was specifically designed for indoor ranges. It's a high quality ammo and will work just fine.

I've been using the Speer TMJ 158-grain 38 Special +P. It's got a bit more punch than the Federal American Eagle 130-grain FMJ, and it's quite a bit cleaner to shoot, or at least it seemed to be. I just purchased some Speer TMJ 380 ACP as well, but I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet.

Speer Lawman ammo is loaded to similar weight JHP's in their lineup. Practice ammo which gives the same performance as the more expensive duty load (point of impact, flash, recoil). Sold a gang of that stuff at the law enforcement supply company I worked at.

Federal 9mm at walmart is 9 bucks a box... or it was last weekend when I bought the last 2 boxes. The stuff grew wings and was flying out the door... The woman said they sold every box within a few hours.

Captainjohnsofd,

I had a feeling that this might be the case. Some of the user-performed tests of 380 ACP ammuntion that I've seen appeared to indicate that the Speer TMJ outperformed some of the old favorites, such as the American Eagle FMJ and the Winchester FMJ. I figured that the Speer TMJ might be a good "dead of winter" defense round, no pun intended.

Before I reloaded I used the Lawman 158gr+P TMJ in IDPA SSR class. Always went bang and made power factor.

Lawman TMJ is good ammo. If it is cheaper than the other options go with it.
