Here's a nice vintage 73 year old prewar third issue heavy barrel Colt Officer's Model Target 38 special with SN of 6188XX dating this venerable old Colt target revolver to 1937. I would grade the original blue finish NRA excellent overall, with a tiny thin rim of muzzle wear, a few scattered handling marks on the barrel and cylinder, a trace of wear of the leading sharp edges of the cylinder but not the frame; there is a small area of fade/wear of the bottom of the trigger guard; overall finish would grade in the 94% range.
Original stocks show some wear but remain in good plus condition.
Action is smooth, bore is clean, timing is fine, and cylinder lock down is tight; no end shake.
All in all a nice venerable old third issue Colt Officer's Model. Also posted at one other forum.
Enjoy the pics!
