Here a venerable pre-war Officer's Model Target (3rd issue) with SN of 271XX which dates it to 1943 per Proofhouse.
Not perfect with a small amount of muzzle wear and frecking of the rear portion of the right side of the frame; the original Colt blue finish remains lustrous; there are a few scattered superficial hairline scratches of the barrel and under the rear sight screw on the top of the right side of the frame, and a small 1/8 inch scratch above the head of the rampant Colt; some minimal edge wear of the leading edges of the frame and cylinder, and two of the six cylinders have some partial bluing loss.
Still a very nice shooter with a squeaky clean barrel bore, clean cylinder bores, a good plus to excellent set of period appropriate factory stocks, and no significant marks or thinning of the bluing of the trigger guard.
Overall I would grade the finish at 90%.
Action is smooth, timing is good, and the cylinder locks down tight with no end shake. All in all a high shooter grade and venerable pre-war Colt 22LR target revolver. For the inveterate S&W K-22 advocates, here's a chance to visit the dark side and see why many feel the pre-war Officer's Model 22's were the cream of the crop.
***SPF*** $525 shipped insured Priority Mail from my FFL to your FFL or C&R, a cost to me of about $30.
