After about 700 rounds my sport became a single shot. I fully break down the weapon and clean it after every range trip and this problem came with no warning or FTF's. I took it to my local dealer I had purchased from and after shooting different ammo and mags and numerous attempts to identify the cause of the problem with no luck, they sent it back to S&W who replaced gas tube, bolt group, buffer and spring. Basically they rebuilt the rifle upper and its been flawless so far. The staking on the bolt gas fitting looks a lot more stout than the original and it almost seems like an overall upgrade from the orgional. The service and warranty impressed me as much as the rifle and I was happy to experience first hand the quality of the service. When it came back I put 200 rounds of assorted ammo and had no issues. Kudos to S&W.

Glad to see you've been taken care of, that's what S&W does. Generally, if an AR goes to single shot, it's a blocked gas tube, loose gas key, or misaligned or missing gas rings.

Good Luck and good shooting.

That was my thoughts and I checked the usual suspects before heading down to see the gunsmith at the store. He went through the entire weapon, test firing between tear downs and after 30-40 minutes he also couldn't get it to fire 2 rounds. It was short cycling, ejecting the spent round and not resetting the trigger. Off and on loading the next round, or jamming and bending the next round. I thought it was my ammo but we shot everything from Wolf steel to Herters match and it all went the same way, bad. Got it back, shot the same assorted ammo and no issues. Any jams we had back in the day were mag related and almost expected. This was a total surprise and just happened one morning at the range from the first shot fired, which I didn't expect because I haven't done any modifications with total take downs and cleanings after every range trip. Pretty sure they got it right looking at what was done by S&W and I had the gun smoking, test firing it when we got it back. Full mag, drop and reload with no rest for the weary.
