I bought a AR 15 Sport (not Sport II) years ago. I haven't shot it much. I mainly shoot handguns or .22lr rifles to include a AR 15-22 which I like a lot. The Sport has the old M16 front sight with gas block and plastic handguard. No M-Lok rail/handguard. I am interested in getting a two point sling and would like to attach using QD swivels. I just ordered a Magpul butt stock which provides for a rear QD swivel. Question: What are my options for being able to install a QD front swivel? Does the old G.I. style handguard allow for the installation of a QD swivel? I could replace the handguard with something like a carbine size Magpul, or I could spend more money and replace the handguard with a much longer one, remove the front sight post and replace the gas block. Or get a longer handguard that works with the existing front sight. I have no plans at this time to mount a light or bipod. Maybe I would want to later, or not, quien sabe. I have a Vortex 1x6 Strike Eagle and don't think the existing front sight is a problem. This "sling business" gets complicated
