Doing a little preventive maintenance on two of my .40s: a 4046 and a 410.
I'd forgotten what a boat anchor the 4046 was...all that stainless versus the Al frame of the 410. Or maybe the plastic sights on the 410 are just so much lighter?
Got to wondering what I might do to upgrade the 410 -- metal sights front and back (now I gotta figure out which ones are the right size -- suggestions?); a metal guide rod (just because...will a 4006 fit?); lighter hammer spring (maybe 18 lbs) and some grip tape or Talons. Anyone have any other suggestions. Perhaps complete disassemble and some polish on the end of dremel?
I'm not sure when I'll shoot it. Got a bit over-enthusiastic on 40s a while back and now I gotta choose what goes in the range bag between a full-size SW99, a Sig 226 & 2340 and somewhere a Taurus 940 turned up. Plus my regular carry SW99 compact.
I guess the anwer is more trips to the range.
