opinions on these

have a chance to pick up an unfired in the box/safe gun with a walnut stock, comes with a total of 5 mags, 5rd,10rd,15rd, 20rd and a 30rd mags, with a can of fresh lake city ammo 200 rds., as well as 2 boxes of hunting ammo40 rds.

the guy says he bought all this stuff 6 years ago and has never shot the gun

he is asking $1100 for the lot, so I am on my way to look it over, I am thinking 200 dollars of ammo, 150 dollars of mags, that would put me in the rifle at about 750

have never owned one, so if I buy it I might need some help from the older jarheads, because it was all Mattel in my army unit so I never got to shoot a m14

$1100 for all that is a great deal. I have 2 M14 clones, one a Springfield Standard M1A and one JRA Rock Ola built with GI parts.

If you don't mind lugging around a lot of weight
it is a good buy.

Even if you don't like it, at that price you can turn a tidy profit on resale. New ones are very close to $2000 with the wood stock, never mind the ammo and extra mags. Having said that, I like them. I have a National Match M1A, a standard M1A and a Scout/Squad. I find myself using the shorty far more than the others, mostly because it's just easier to handle. And what's not to like about 20 rounds of 7.62 power? Go for it. You can't hardly lose on this one.

Jump on it right NOW! :D

I love the M1A and especially the Scout Squad. I think its the perfect compromise between handling and shootability.

Be sure to post pics. ;)

Great buy to me. I've owned one for several years. The flash hider is actually a brake.....I was surprised at the light recoil.

At 9.3 lbs it's not much different than many of the HBAR barreled AR platforms in weight.

I trained with a M-14 in basic and always thought highly of these rifles. Still do.......

Yep, great deal! The muzzle brake does a great job. Hardly any kick, but loud! Shoot it at an indoor range and watch everyone around you jump when that thing goes off, and watch the fire ball from that brake, spectacular!

Too late! I drove over and bought it.
Don't wait too long on this one.

I purchased a norinco m14 a few years back. It's heavy for me as I get older. I purchased the much lighter Russian Izmash Saigas in 308win. So much lighter.

she is here, the mags ended up being a 5-10-3x20

ammo was lake city 74, and Remington core lock 180gr

box is in great shape has the oringal inspection card and head space cert dated 2007, came with the springfield manuel and a military manuel for the M14

Be careful not to shoot that Remington ammo in it. Its only designed for ball ammo. The powder burn rate in modern hunting ammo is too slow for your new gun and may cause excessive pressure it the breach. I have never experienced it myself but other have warned me of bent op rods and possible slam fires. Love the price enjoy, enjoy your new gun. Over the years I have had many, never had the scout but you never know one might pop up.

You got yourself a helluva deal there, congrats. I bought a new Loaded last year and just traded into a SOCOM 16 EBR clone. They're great guns and loads of fun to shoot.

Bubba, ya done good! :D

Now dress her out just a little bit and you'll be ready to go.

I have a great fondness for the M-14/M1A. I own all three barrel lengths. But if the SHTF scenario should even happen, its the Scout/Squad that I'll grab. ;)

Congrats on the new rifle! I am envious. :)

As Bob1956 said, set the Remington ammo aside for your bolt guns and don't use it in the Springfield. It's not worth the risk.
