So I just picked one up and haven't even fired it yet. Anyone have one, and mind sharing your experience as well as likes and dislikes? I went for the stainless over the black melonite. I'm very excited about the size of this handgun. The sights are pleasing to my eyes and the gun feels good. Already looking for a few small upgrades. Thanks for any opinions you can offer.

I got one and first thing I added was a Pachmayr slip on grip. Definitely one of my favorite cc guns.

I have to question your not having shot yours yet. Considering the energy of the 45 ACP and the small size of the XDS I would have made sure to find a rental to try out before ever purchasing one.

I've got the 9mm version and love it. It is amazingly easy to shoot and unbelievably accurate for me. Makes me chuckle every time. I added the Powder River spring kit for $18.95 which made a great gun better. It is my IWB carry gun. Occasionally I carry in the pocket but it is a little big and heavy for that. I've been considering purchasing the 45 ACP version and probably will if I run across a good deal.

XDS-45

EXCELLENT GUN..... I can hit the plates at 25 yds without missing (and my dominant eye is blurry so I now have to shoot with one eye; and it's the wrong one). The gun feels fine in my hand even with the 5 shot mag (which I prefer). It balances perfectly for me and the recoil is not difficult for me to handle (I have to admit that I was raised on the .45 and have never shot a 9 or a 40). In sum: It works perfectly for me and got me to sell my Glock 36.

I had bought an XDs9, 3.3 and liked it so much, I then bought the XDs45, 3.3
On both guns I installed the PPP spring kits and the Truglo TFO sights.
I found the .45 to be more accurate and recoil was/is not an issue. I sold the 9 to a friend so I still get to shoot it once in awhile.
I carry the .45 in a Milt Sparks Versa Max, horsehide, IWB holster
I prefer the 5 round mag for both carry and shooting. I had the 7 round mag modified (shortened) to a 6 round, but I still prefer the 5 round.
IMHO the XDs, 3.3 guns are the best for cc when worn IWB or OWB. They are too large for pocket carry.
I always have my 642 in my pocket or on my ankle, and mst times the XDs 45 on/in my belt.

I had one, for 1 trip to the range. I fired 200 rounds and disliked the whole experience.

Of course I dislike striker fired handguns in general. Being raised shooting 1911s and wheelguns I guess I'll never like them.

The guy I sold it to loves it.

I retired my long time carried full size 1911 .45 for an XDs3. Nice little gun, shoots well and to me I did not find the recoil unpleasant. I call those .45s my CITY GUNS!

One person wrote on here to rent one first, well living in the people’s republic of NY that ‘’aint’’ going to happen.

I had the gun awhile and then the big recall hit. MY gun was one of the first sent in and thusly one of the first returned. The trigger pull was a little more harsh after the recall but I can handle it all right Cary this little piece in a IWBH and it totally disappears and is much more comfortable to carry than bigger guns. Been carying since mid 1970s and I have carried a lot of guns over that time frame!

Speaking again about recoil I find the XDs to be more comfortable than my .380 bodyguard and my sons Glock 40. It does not make my hand hurt in the thumb area the way those two manage to do. I realize all on here are different but that is what works for me.

I owned the XDs 45 and was very pleased with it. 230s can be a bit brisk to shoot, but not unpleasant. I also used Privi Partisan 185 HPs, and found these to be an exceptional alternative. Despite its small size and weight, the XDs was not a problem for extended range sessions. It is a great CCW or BUG, and a very good value. Last year some XDs models were subject to a factory recall, but Springfield took care of things quickly.

I like mine

Howdy,
I'm on the "I like mine" side of the debate.
It shoots like a full size. I coat pocket carry and keep it in the car when I'm out.
Loading the first round out of a full mag can be a little frustrating but I have never had any stoppage after close to, or a little over, 500 rounds.
Standing two handed, unsupported at 25 yards it easily holds the black of a B-6 bulls eye target.
I have had several plastic guns that shot well and worked, but this is the only one I have kept. I like it.
Thanks
Mike

I have the 45 and really like it. I put the Pearce grip adapter on my 5 rd mags, this gives a place for little finger to grip.

Just picked one up. It's called "Essentials" package. One 5rd & 6rd mag, grip size piece to swap, extra red and green fiber optic. $430 from Grab-A-Gun.

I have found all the positive reports to be true. It shoots as it should out of the box. 50rds of 230gr factory RN and two mags of Fed Hydra-Shok -- 100%. It's not punishing, easier on the hand than my LCP. The trigger is what it is... Glockish. Have not shot on paper yet, but it hit 18in round steel off hand every time at 60yds. Didn't use the 6rd with mag extension cuz I didn't buy this gun to be a wanna-be full size gun. All I need to do now is choose a holster. I'm thinking about the DeSantis Mini Scabbard belt holster. I like it. Will it replace my LCP? Nah... but I think it nicely rounds out my carry options. 642, LCP, XDS 45. :)

Springfield USA XDS made in Croatia.

This .45 carry project is done... XDS 45 and Desantis Mini Scabbard. Desantis fits the gun perfectly. Great little pistol and belt holster combo for under $500.

I really like this one, Talon grip addition helps tame the grip harshness a little. It went back for the recall and the trigger came back not as nice but that has smoothed and is as nice as pre recall. As others have said it is surprisingly easy to control and very accurate. Best of all it runs perfectly with cast semi wadcutters!
