I put a 442-2 on layaway today, I believe it is a square butt. Not real sure but if so are there as many grip options as the round butt? I looked at it, it looked square. It has boot grips on it that do not cover the back strap. Any ideas?

No dumb questions but yes, as far as I know, all 442's are RB. Grip options are only limited by your wallet. Enjoy your gun.

Thanks everybody, I'm excited. I think I am falling in love with revolvers. I have a few autos, mainly Glocks. But have the 442 on LA and a Ruger SP101 also at another store, this one should be coming home soon. Thanks again.

Looks like others have taken care of the 442 being a round butt part of the question. As to j-frame square butt options, they aren't all that plentiful.

I do believe the only J frames in .38Spl. that had the option of a square butt were the 36, 37, and a small run of 60s. All others were round butts. No .357Mag J frames were available in square butt. I know some .22 models had the option, but I'm not as familiar with those models, same for the .32/.38 S&W models.
