. . . and a nice fella was making a three gun trade for a very nice nickel Colt Trooper that I saw come in the shop a couple days ago. One of the guns was a S&W 042, which the fella had carried for many years on the job as a state probation officer. My guy knows I like those old S&W revolvers, so as he was booking and otherwise dealing with the two rifles in the trade after the customer left, he slid the pistol my way. Mechanically sound, but plenty of honest holster wear. Original Uncle Mike’s grips, but sadly no box. It’s one of the 642 frames that was over stamped and blued, allegedly due to finish imperfections. I was at an advantage, and he knew it, because I heard what the fella wanted for each gun, and I knew what he had in the Trooper.

So, anyway, after I looked at his SCSW (which I bought him), and handling the thing to death, I shot him a fair out the door offer and he accepted. I’m happy, he’s happy, and here’s a picture . . .

Ok. Where’s the picture?

(Edit) Ah, there we go! I probably would have bought that one myself. Doesn’t look to be abused. Congrats! :)

A true carry gun isn't going to look perfect long anyway. He just wore the high end off the price tag for you. It is nice to have a solid relation ship with you gun dealer. Unfortunately mine is hang it up in another month.

Not to drift but a local dealer here just closed up shop not long ago. I wouldn't call him my dealer but I've done a fair amout of business with him. I'm not sure how long my dealer is going to stay in business. Times must be tough.

I've thought about selling a few pistols but how's a person going to buy anything when there aren't any dealers left locally?
