. . . and a nice fella was making a three gun trade for a very nice nickel Colt Trooper that I saw come in the shop a couple days ago. One of the guns was a S&W 042, which the fella had carried for many years on the job as a state probation officer. My guy knows I like those old S&W revolvers, so as he was booking and otherwise dealing with the two rifles in the trade after the customer left, he slid the pistol my way. Mechanically sound, but plenty of honest holster wear. Original Uncle Mike’s grips, but sadly no box. It’s one of the 642 frames that was over stamped and blued, allegedly due to finish imperfections. I was at an advantage, and he knew it, because I heard what the fella wanted for each gun, and I knew what he had in the Trooper.
So, anyway, after I looked at his SCSW (which I bought him), and handling the thing to death, I shot him a fair out the door offer and he accepted. I’m happy, he’s happy, and here’s a picture . . .
