That would need to be built on a 640 frame. Doable, but about 7 oz heavier than the 442. Not much advantage over 357 Mag for most, so sales would be low. Don't see it happening.
I’d love to see that. Consider airweights are around 14 ounces so that would be a50% increase. Honestly I’m not a fan of airweight revolvers. They’re fine to carry but very unpleasant to shoot and I, like many people, can shoot a gun with a bit more mass better than a featherweight that’s harder to hold on target. And that’s not to mention some of us are reluctant to practice with a gun that’s painful to shoot and would most likely result in a substantial flinch after the first shot. Follow up shots would take more time to get on target as well.
I’m going on 76 and have arthritis in my hands and wrists and have no interest in punishing myself with a 14 ounce handgun. I have a 640 no dash and with the proper grips and loads I can do quite well with it but the 442 I had and M37 were traded in for more pleasant guns to shoot.
