Stainless finish reconditioning?

I have a model 66 with a lot of holster "polishing" on the end of the barrel and on the cylinder. Those spots are a lot more shiny than the rest of the gun. What is the best way to restore the original look to the finish? I'm sure there is a thread devoted to this and if so I apologize for bringing this up again, but I can't get the search feature to work. It just disappears when I touch the keyboard.

I'd say that's a good question for Smith customer service.

A gray scotch brute pad is what I use. You have to follow the original pattern to get finish right.

I had heard that one of the scotch pads would do the trick, but didn't remember which one. I just knew it wasn't the green one

3M 03064 Trizact 3-2/3" x 9" 3000 Grit Performance Sandpaper

Available on Amazon. Very, very close match to factory polish. I've used it successfully a number of times.
