I've been collecting models 41 & 46 for a long time. I've never seen a 41 with this finish or is it stainless ? The Sn is TAFxxxx and it doesn't appear to be refinished (to me). This is the 5.5 heavy barrel gun and I did not get a box with it. I thought about Hard Chrome and I certainly don't know what's involved in that process, but the gun does not appear to be buffed. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Armoly and their competitors' finishes can look VERY similar to stainless. I bought a custom 1911 believing it was stainless, but on examination at home … well I knew better but wanted to believe. At least I had an excuse. Stainless 1911s exist.

It could also have a chrome finish which can look exactly like S/S.

I'm thinking Hard Chrome finish. Who ever did it I'd tip my hat to them. I have never seen any evidence that Smith ever made a stainless model 41. I paid a "shooter" price for it and just want to make sure I didn't miss the memo on stainless 41's.

Hard chrome might just be the best of both worlds. Durable as stainless but carbon steel underneath which is tougher than stainless and machines smoother. Might just be the ultimate 41

A picture is worth 10,000 words. We are waiting to see this gun Please.
