With the addition of the 625-7 Performance Center 45 Colt ,I took stock of the direction my collecting is taking.
Stainless N frames ( or G frames as they are known as at the factory) have taken a large chunk of my collecting dollars.
Caliber does not seem to matter, as I hand load them all. I shoot them, and clean them, and they come right back to how they looked before the trip to the range.
I got into this game fairly recently ,and have paid, or traded dearly for each and every one.

How has your G frame collection evolved? Do you agree these are the kings of the modern revolvers?

With the introduction of the 629 in 1979, these have only been around now for 30 years. A short time in the history of revolvers.

I'll show you mine ,you show yours. Tell some stories of the last 30 years and your Stainless N frame experiences.

Regards ,,Allen Frame

Very nice collection of N frames. I seem to get several N frames and have to sell them to pay off something. I still have 2 N frames a 1917 and a 625-3. I seem to be aquiring several K frames

Ok 1st up is my pride and joy, an early production 629 no dash. Lucked into this New and unfired in it's presentation case 2 yrs ago, it's no longer unfired.

Next is my 629-3 Classic circa 1993, bought this from it's original owner who rarely fired it, it's sweet!

Not exactly a stainless "freak" but, here's a couple more N frames.
I certainly appreciate the low maintenance of the stainless steel.

I have been a stainless fan ever since they were introduced. I have a number of stainless "N" frames but only have pictures of a couple.

Here is my most used revolver - a 625-6 Model of 1989 that has been pictured here several times:

The 625 is a real shooter. I have shot my personal best target with this (a 97x100 slowfire with 6 "X's").

Then, there is my 629 Performance Center Light Hunter:

Being primarily a shooter, stainless' easy maintenance, and it's utility value while hunting in bad weather is undeniable, I am a fan.

I have only two right now, BUT I am looking for ( well always looking) for a short barrel 45 ACP revolver,,,, Just havent found the no lock deal just yet.
Here are the two I have.
624 no dash in front
629-2E in rear
Both great shooters and the 629 is always with me camping in the Pop up camper.
Love them both

Allen,
That is a fantastic collection of Stainless N frames, congrats - it's getting tougher to find them these days, you've done good.....:)

Just one now

I have about a dozen S&W revolvers, but only this one stainless N frame, a 629 Classic with 5 inch barrel. I focus more on the J, K and L frames and have resisted the N frame bug because of safe capacity and wallet capacity limitations. But I love the N frame guns in stainless or blue, and think they have the best trigger feel of all the S&W revolvers.

625 3"

My story:

The 625 in 3" has been my "Holy Grail" gun for about 15 to 20 years. I started buying/trading for 686's in 2.5" because I could never find a 625. The 686's curbed my desire for the 625 temporarily, but before long I was on a quest for the 625. I recently found one locally and paid a bit too much for it, but I did'nt care. A week or two later another one came up locally at a far better price than the first, it was like an omen (or so I told myself). Now I own 2 625's in 3" (and my 2 686's, one being a Magnaported model) and could'nt be happier.
