Stand your ground laws

Nah...what I'm continuing to describe is a confusing expansion of the traditional and historic self defense laws that incidentally are still used successfully by over half the states. We have seen several people go to jail because they misunderstood SYG, including one in the gun-friendly state of Texas. We have seen criminals using the SYG statutes to justify their shootings. Again, I think SYG is a good idea in theory, but there are some kinks that need to be worked out. As I posted earler, As I said before, I tend to support SYG, but there are some areas where it really isn't clear and opens the door for some big misunderstandings that tend to fuel the "I can" mentality as opposed to the "I must" way of thinking.

Giving in to the anti-SYG folks will only lead to giving up SYG while in your own home. It seems I read a long time ago a situation where a homeowner shot and killed an intruder, and the prosecution stated the homeowner had a duty to retreat, like in run up to your attic, or down to your basement, or lock yourself in a bathroom, or go out your back door, or even jump out of your 2nd story home, all which must be a consideration running through a victim's mind before he even considers using deadly force; I don't think so.
