Stanley McChristal has forgotten his oath.

Just another General/Admiral lost within their own self perceived GRANDEUR and the BELTWAY perception of life.

Disrespected the President (which is the office) and lost his job.

And now, it seems, as pennance, he speaks out in the president's agenda. His support is timely and very suspect.
(to think I admired this man's "maverick" approach to military ops before)

Just because he is a General doesn't necessarily mean he knows what he is talking about. He needs to go study the Constitution and the oath he took to it. Generals carry sidearms and are surrounded by security, easy for him to say whatever he wants to support an agenda. Again we see them dictating what is good for the rest of us, while not walking the walk and talking the talk.

If one reviews his military record, the General has never, ever been in combat...ever. To the uninitiated, one would say he has because he has a CIB, well, that's not a CIB, but an "Expert Infantry" Badge. From my perspective, the General, has been one very successfull office pogue who was always at the right place when the SHTF.

I have to agree with the general to a very small point the m4 carbine and m16 rifle which both have several different modes of fire should only be used by the military.

The civilian AR15 rifle which only fires semi-automatic should be available to the general public. But this is only my 2 cents on the subject.

mg357,

Many states allow FULLY AUTOMATIC FIREARMS.

These firearms are covered by the NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT (NFA) OF 1934.

These firearms OWNERS and that Firearm are REGISTERED WITH THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT and they have PAID the $200 Federal Tax Stamp for it.

Many people enjoy shooting FULL AUTOS, myself I find them EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE to feed them, even if you reload ammo yourself.

BUCKET LIST ITEM TO DO SOMEDAY, SHOOT ONE SOMEWHERE.

Oh!, by the way do you belong to the NRA, if not, YOU SHOULD JOIN TODAY?

Right, but to the uninformed majority of this country, I'm afraid his words will carry the weight of an expert on such matters.

Boys, if ya ain't noticed yet they are pulling out all the stops this time. Gonna be rugged fight.

I will really generate some annimosity with this. I believe citizens should be able to own fully automatic rifles, and machine guns, if they can afford them. They should be able to own an F 16 if they can afford it. Why because We the people compose the Militia, and if the government owns it so should we just to keep them in check. What's was a musket? It was a military style weapon. Now as far as use. I don't think it should be lawful to hunt deer with machine guns. We need to give them a sporting chance and a rifle alone gies is a tremendous advantage. Just sayin!

Very interesting. He says 32 people die everyday from gun violence. Multipy that by 365 and you come up with 11,680 a year, which is a very small number for a population of aprox 300 million. More people than that die ever day from medical mistakes by medical professionals, to include mistakes in medication. Many more people than that die in auto accidents everyday. Are we going to ban doctors, nurses and automobiles? Furthermore, it is not that easy or inexpensive to obtain a M16/M4. These are full auto weapons. AR15s are not.

They probably count suicides and home owners protecting their home as gun violence incidents

There I fixed it for Ya!

Boy it is a good thing we don't own assault weapons. Assault weapons are what the Military uses. They are full auto capable and have all the fancy doodads that only the Military can afford.

I don't know about you all but I sure do like my modern sporting rifle.

That statistic is definitely misleading. I think we can all agree that while suicides and accidents are tragic, the statistic that is most important is murder. Murder by firearms is approximately 8,000 per years.

He wouldn't be selling a book right about now, would he?

Oh, yes he would.
