Star Spangled Banner like you've never heard it.

I do too Rastoff, and it surely DOES NOT make my eyes leak like some renditions have a tendency to do. Well,....let me clarify that eye watering thing.
Some renditions are so traditional and heartfelt, it happens; but then those other "Butchered Yowlings" type really bring the tears.

I didn't think i was going to like it but I did. They really spiced it up and I still liked it, they just did it their way.

As a video, I like it. It is expressive and very musical, but remains respectful and patriotic. Overall, very well done. I'll forward it to my usual cast of characters.

However, I would wig out if it was played that way at the start of a sporting event or similar. Those renditions should be done with the utmost respect and with very little variation and no self promotion. In those cases you are representing your country and should be honored to do so.

I just got dried up from ditrina's thread about the Santa cops and now 2:10 into this where the widow receives the flag got me again...

Wow! That Madison Rising rendition rocks!

Music is energy and they really captured it. Lock and load, rock and roll!

I'm a real traditionalist, and don't normally care for folks messing with the National Anthem, but I'm impressed with this young enthusiasm!

Very encouraging indeed! Maybe it's not too late after all! Young patriotism, that is.

Well, I wasn't going to read this thread, but I finally did and wished I hadn't. It was just what I expected (although not as bad as some.)
I should explain, I am a traditionalist, curmudgeon and also don't think the National Anthem should be messed around with. I'm also a retired U.S. Navy Musician and have probably performed the Anthem more times than many of you have even heard it.
Sorry, I can't help it but it just grates on my nerves whenever it drifts away from the official version.

(I hope I NEVER hear a "rap" version.......)

Im a traditionalist too. I too hope a rap version never hits the airwaves.I did think at least--that they got the message out but prefer the original rendition over all.

While I was presiding judge for the recent election and its run-off this week-my alternate judge payes the violin for the CC orchestra--very good at it too:His rendition of it was excellent--traditionally played. He was nice enough to play it before we swore our Oaths of duty--for both elections.

I'm a musician. I love music in all it's forms. Classical, Jazz, Rock, R&B, Country, acapella or with instruments, I just love music. Anyone that can show talent is worth at least a listen in my book. Yes, I've even heard Rap songs where I could appreciate the talent even though I don't care for that style myself.

One aspect that I appreciate in any group is to be able to truly remake a song. To take an old standby and make it new, without losing the original flavor, is something I can't do. It's yet another level of talent.

While I appreciate what we call the original version of the Star Spangled Banner, I do like this kind of a remake. I liked the Hendrix version as well. Each is unique and, in my opinion, not disrespectful. I'm sorry if anyone sees it that way. I never intended it that way and I'm sure Madison Rising didn't either.

i'm a Old tmer and I liked it......It is a new world out there and new fights with new kids doing the fighting and dieing I give em a break,,,,I doubt that the original composer would get to up tight,,,,Semper fi
