Anyone seen it yet?

the PG13 rating says "brief sexual content"

just wondering if safe for my 10 year daughter?

A very breif shot of Uhuru in bra & panties. Pun unintentional. A fun romp for Trekkies and action movie enthusiasts.

Saw it last week....awesome movie.

As far as being safe for your daughter, it had a BRIEF scene with Kirk making love to an alien woman(she had blue skin.) I don't know if you consider that inappropriate for your daughter.

Anyways, an all around excellent movie; might turn off some hard core Trek fans as it focused more on action than technobabble and intellectual debates.

that sounds ok.

could you give me a estimated guess on time on the movie so I can cover her eyes should I need to.

1/4 1/2 or 3/4's of the way?

she still believes in Santa and the Easter Bunny!

Kirk was in bed with the alien chick but she was also clad in bra & panties. No actual love making. BTW, she had green skin.

Maybe 1/8th into the movie right after Kirk joins the academy.
If your daughter watches TV she won't be too shocked.

I hope it's a younger Uhura. I met Nichelle Nichols at a Chiller Theatre convention a few years ago. Nice lady, still pretty good looking then-for 73.

Ooops green not blue skin, guess I was focusing on the 16 year old beside me yakking on his cell phone.

My son and his fiancee saw it and loved it.

They didn't mention anything being too racy, but we weren't a terribly conservative family.

"Star Trek" was never intended for children, but I think a ten year old should be able to handle what they showed on TV and in most of the ST movies. That may be a clue to this one.

I plan to see it, although I have trouble accepting the guy who plays Kirk as a Star Fleet officer. The guy playing Spock seems more believable.

If you cover your daughter's eyes when a Victoria's Secret commercial comes on TV, I guess the movie should be viewed with caution. Many evening TV shows have scenes such as described here, and soap operas are famous for that.

Anything beyond a G -Rated film these days often has scenes that depict some adult behavior. But I understand your concern about the PG-13 caution, which was vague. It's often difficult to know what to expect at a given rating level.

I think it was kinda of brilliant, in the sense that most time-paradox movies wind up resolving with everything put back as it was. This kind of re-invents the franchise, since ( I hope this isn't really a spoiler) we are left with the view of the altered path.

I thought for the most part the new actors were great, especially "Bones" McCoy. They paid proper attention to showing how some of the well known character traits become ingrained, but usually not so much that it came off "campy".

And I agree about the "sex" scene . . . Viki's Secret commercials are steamier.

Do you know where your towel is?

I do.

I also keep a couple of packs of salted peanuts and a large paper bag handy at all times.

Never know for sure which way my luck will break. Best to be prepared either way!

I'm a Trekkie, but it's going to be a while before the movie comes here. Then, there is always the danger that it will be dubbed in Spanish, and not in English with Subs.

I can't WAIT to see it, it's so frustrating, it's like waiting all over again for Gran Torino.

I'm so happy it's getting good reviews.
