State sponsored shooting range

Living on the Left Coast I have a total distrust of anything "run by the State". Visions of State trolls copying down license plate numbers and such. Think I'd have to pass. Suppose there is nothing to stop the State trolls from doing the same at private clubs though. Must be getting more paranoid in my old age.

Way TOO MANY archery ranges in Ohio compared to firearms ranges. The State Politicians should do a little spending in that area instead of some of the ridiculous ideas they think up, such as the High Speed Train (that was only going to average 39 MPH).

I tend to agree with this. It shocked me that any state would pay for such when it involves guns.

There have been those mentioning their areas not having a fee if the person was a licensed hunter or such. That is not the case here. ANYONE can use the facility, no matter what state they are from. Also in Louisiana and maybe some other states, there is no hunting or fishing license, big game permits or such to buy after a person reaches age 60.

But to have benefit of a shooting range where even targets are free and to have a rangemaster/instructor on hand seems great to me. Even though we have millions of acres of hunting lands in the state, there are few places where we can sight in rifles at 200 yards or have covered firing lines with benches, chairs and such. I am shocked but also very thankful for this and plan to make use of it this weekend.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Clark County Shooting Range in Nevada. 3,000 acre $60,000,000.00 tax payer funded.

Anyone been there?
