The owner started shooting the limited class using the factory 6" barrel and a trigger job. We discussed ways of reducing the weight and hit on the idea of fitting a Tactical solutions barrel. I ordered a 10-22 barrel and thought I would make it longer for the sight radius.
I saw an Apex Tactical 617 used at a match and didn't think Randy Lee would mind if I used his idea of reducing the cylinder diameter and this modification made the revolver even better!
As you can see in the photo, this reduced the weight by almost half. The gun was used all last summer with fantastic results. We decided to make an open gun using the remainder of the rifle barrel and adding the comp and a Delta Point optic. I made the barrel shorter (no need for more sight radius) and added the comp making it about the same length and weight.
The open gun has been getting a real workout before the US Steel Challenge in March. So far both have been running perfectly.
I have since built two more, one limited and one open for another Michigan shooter. I just wish I could shoot them as well as the owners!
Thanks for your interest and Keep Shootin'
