This weekend a large local club is hosting a Steel Challenge match. The darling husband wanted to shoot it since our experiences with the Steel Challenge goes back to basically help running it (he RO'ed and wrote the scoring software and I ran the scoring shack). This is back in SoCal when there was only 1 Steel Challenge.
The darling husband is using his 9mm. Since there is a category for a rimfire rifle, he thought that I should use my 15-22. The red dot that is on it is currently zeroed at 33 yards (our outdoor ranges 25 yrd line is really 33 yards). I am going to go to our indoor range and re-zero it at either 20 or 25 yards. It should be interesting...

Well I did rezero my red dot at 20 yards at the indoor range. Then the darling husband came home and decided that we needed to go to the outdoor range to chrono some ammo and to have fun with the plate racks. I was really surprised that the 22lr was knocking down the plates.. All this was on Friday the 5th.

The match was yesterday, the 7th. It was fun shooting it with the 15-22. I must have been doing something right since I finished 10th out of 48 shooters. The darling husband finished 25th. Personally I think that shooting it with a 15-22 with red dot was almost an unfair advantage. All rimfire (22's only, no 17hmr) had to start low ready. I could see this for the rifles (kind of hard to holster them, lol) but the 22lr handguns could have been holstered. Oh well, who am I to argue with the rules when they help me. Now the husband is crowing to everyone about how well I did (I also placed 2 in rifle and first woman) and he is talking about shooting it with a 22lr next time.

That is really well done. Keep up the good work and represent girlfriend!!

The local club that did the first Steel Challenge match has decided to hold monthly Steel Challenge matches. I once again shot it with the 15-22 (why mess with a good thing?). And while I did good, I did not do as well as last month. They have me finishing 23rd. But they have one of my strings on Roundabout wrong. They have me at 358.00 seconds. I am pretty sure that is supposed to be 3.58 seconds. That being said, then that should have put me into 22nd place.
I was shooting slower this month, because I was scoring my hits. I have to stop doing that, trust my optic and shoot faster.
I still beat the darling husband though and I was still first place woman.

Who's "Darling husband"? He has to be on this site. I have to congratulate him for scoring such a cool wife! Don't tell me, you ride your own bike too?
