Guys,
I wanted to show off my first pair of steer head grips! I found these K frame mother of pearl grips at the gun show on Saturday and probably paid too much, but these are about as nice as you will find and are absolutely beautiful in my opinion. The talent to carve these out of mother of pearl blows my mind.

I've put them on my King Super Target, I know the theme might to be just right, but I do think they look mighty nice on it. However I do believe they would be perfect on a M&P 4in pre war target. So now I'm on the look out for one of them;)

Thanks for letting me show them off, and please post pictures of your steer head grips I'd love to see them!

Paul, it doesn't matter what you paid, it was worth it! Those are spectacular. I have seen steer heads in ivory a decent amount of times, but rarely in pearl. The only thing that would have made them "blingier" would have been ruby eyes! Oh, BTW, yes I did make up a new word, but I think those grips are perfect.

That is the most beautiful set of carved pearl grips I have seen and look perfect on your KST!

My only set of carved steer head grips are ivory and are factory original on my 1926 vintage Colt Frontier Six Shooter .44-40…….

Beautiful KST!!! I have a post war 38 KST, but not a pre-war one... Still looking. :)

I did own a set of pearl steerhead grips for an N-Frame, but someone with a W&K 44 really needed a set and off they went to complement that gun. Here is are a few photos of the grips...

Did you sell those to Johnny Cash ? Red eyes remind me of Ghost Riders in the Sky.

Great gun and stocks. Are the stocks Wolf & Klar? Those usually have large Roman Numerals carved on the insides.

Here's a set of W&K on my 4 inch 3rd Model 44. Don't have a picture of the backs handy but those Roman Numerals on the W&Ks are impossible to miss.

Those are beautiful MOP stocks, and the revolver is outstanding! They make a great pair! Just a word of caution...I would change out those MOP stocks before taking that King Super Target to the range. Although beautiful, the MOPs can be on the fragile side and may chip or crack. It would be a shame to damage them. However, if it's just going to be a show piece set...they're gorgeous together. I've only got one set of MOP stocks, they're on my 1950 nickel M&P .38 Spl., my "Nawlins Pimp Gun"!

boykinlp,

A now departed friend owned a small gun shop that specialized in antique and military guns. When I first started working with him I was tasked with inventorying the shop's stock and his personal collection.

In his personal gun room I opened one box and there was a nickel M&P with Mother of Pearl grips AND Ruby eyes! As I opened the box I loudly uttered a four letter word that denotes used food in surprise.

As he was up front I heard him say "What's wrong?"

My reply was "Hey, give me a heads up what I might find here, ok?"
As he was a big Colt fan I was surprised to find these in his collection.

As it's been a couple of years since his passing I did mention to the family that if they decide to part with the gun and grips that I would like to have a chance at them.
