Nine feet huh? I'd like to have the tape measure they used.

Interesting, when I began reading this thread, I didn't laugh as I do sometimes when I read revisionist history. Instead, I just . . .

Dick-

Same here. It certainly taught me a lot about certain board members, some of whom I used to respect.

But it wasn't about revisionist history; just about why some snakes seemed to behave unnaturally on a TV show. At least, that's what I THOUGHT it was about when I began the thread.

Certainly, it wasn't meant to demean Steve Irwin, any more than other TV people who do similar things. It isn't easy to find snakes in the bush when you need them for filming, but those he used or found in Africa sure behaved more like they should than some he featured back in Australia.

It shows the lows to which this board has sunk that this thread has gone on for several pages, and I got just ONE valid response, which confirmed what I'd asked about. Much of the rest was about as venomous as some snakes.

Now just hold on there, pard. Let's not start discussing liberals who host shows on MSNBC, CNN and NBC. Why, there's no telling where that would lead . . .

As for Steve Irwin, from all I've read and seen (and I was, and continue to be, a fan), he was a great guy. It all looked real to me, including the times I saw him not move fast enough and get bit. And, no matter what the temperature, I ain’t brave (or dumb) enough to play with venomous snakes. So, I give the guy his due.

I don't recall anybody putting down Steve Irwin. It was Show Biz. You mean Houdini wasn't really magic?
