I took my 4566TSW and a Glock G19 to the range this morning and it was good range time. I had brought along a variety of ammo for the .45 to see how it would hold up to it's bigger brother(4506) in reliability and was not disappointed.

Until today, I probably hadn't shot over 100 rounds through this one since I've only had it a couple weeks. I had some Corbon 200gr HP's(new and old), a box of Speer's old 200 gr Lawman series, a box of 200gr Speer Gold Dots and some 230 gr FMJ. Did I mention I like 200 gr in .45?

There was no problems with the 4566 in any way. Feeding and ejection were perfect...well, except for a couple rounds of brass that bounced off my head! Other than that, it was all I figured it would be-totally reliable and trustworthy. I'll have to put more through it before I trust it as much as the 4506 but I think it will rank right up there with it.

BTW-the G19 didn't let the Smith get one over on it as it too fed Ranger T 127 gr +P+ as good as the .45 fed the FMJ. Both are excellent weapons.

Smith auto's don't fail to feed. I've never had one fail to feed under any circumstance.

On the contrary, I fed some junk ammo through a Glock once and it wouldn't cycle it. Neither would a Sig.

It was match ammo that was loaded too lightly. The Sig220 and Glock 21 both wouldn't feed it, but the 4506 did. Haha.

I've shot less then 20 rounds so far,but it's been a mix of S&B,Wolf and some Winchester Personal Defense 230gr JHP but the 4506-1 dosn't seem to care,it just eats it all.

The linage shows in the M&P as it's the same way,Smith makes a hell of a gun when you come down to it.

Kinda sounds like Glock bashing, so in their defense in over 11,000 rounds ( Known ) through my Dep't issued G23, not a single FTF or hic cup. Don't be haters.

Glock is good too,had a 21 for almost ten years and it would eat just about anything as well.

I've tried a whole lot of pistols and most just seem to work quite well if they're of recent make.

S&W is just classy,that's all :D

I was wondering about that. I haven't as yet shot any of the M&P series and wondered if they came close to the 3rd Generation as for reliability. I've had a 4506 for a long time and like others testify to, it's never failed despite 200 gr SWC's, the infamous "Flying Ashtray" in the Lawman series or Corbon's and an assortment of 185 gr HP's. It currently resides under my pillow as I trust my life to it. I hope to feel likewise about the 4566TSW

The only disappointing thing today was the fact that it shoots a bit low at 7-10 yards. I kept thinking it was me using a 6-o'clock hold so, I held higher and closer to the red bulls-eye and it's going to shoot low I'm afraid. Fixed sights so, no adjustment.

The M&P has fired 200 and 230gr JHP without a problem,I have no doubts it'd work with most anything but can't say about low-end SWC target loads as I don't have any use for such things and won't have any about.

I'd try the 200gr JHP in my 4506,but I haven't much so I'm just keeping it for real use,but I'm sure the thing would eat them up like any of the rest.

Look at it this way:both of them have chewed up Wolf 230gr FMJ,that stuff is dirty and just generally nasty so if it can eat that it's doing damn good.

No, not bashing Glock. I own a G21 and like it very much... well after the customizations I did to make it better.:D

It's eaten everything BUT that crap load. Was just noting the Smith did eat it, where the Glock and Sig did not, in following up to the original posters observation that his Smith ate everything.

They are flawless.

Does it shoot low with 230 gr bullets or just with the light weight stuff?

The 200 gr shoots on par with the slightly heavier 230 gr FMJ-both a bit low and left.
